Delta de l’Ebre site (DEC3)
1. Studying regions with a high probability of being affected by changes, both in climate and biospheric processes (including karsts, deltas, islands and high mountain areas)
2. Obtaining high-‐quality, near-‐real <me, con<nuous clima<c and biogeochemical data at specific natural systems
3. Crea<ng specific campaigns to address scien<fic relevant issues
4. Developing communica<on and educa<on ac<ons to create awareness in society about climate change and its impacts

FIRST RESULTS Radon monitors comparison at DEC3
The first specific study carried out at the DEC3 site has been a comparison exercise of two radon monitors which are based on different measurement principles.
A radon progeny monitor developed at the University of Heidelberg (Germany) and belonging to the AGH University of Science and Technology (Poland) was tested against a radon gas monitor developed at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Spain).
Results obtained during the measurements period are shown in the upper figure, together with meteorological variables and CO2 concentra<on. Both monitors show a high level of agreement.
Some characterisGcs: -‐ Natural park (3,500 ha) -‐ Atlan<c and Mediterranean influences -‐ Closed valley
Some characterisGcs: -‐ Delta of the Ebre river (320 km2) -‐ Mediterranean climate -‐ Covered with paddy fields
Main issues to be studied: -‐ Convec<on paberns at different heights -‐ GHGs concentra<ons -‐ Radia<on
Main issues to be studied: -‐ Radia<on -‐ Soil and ambient humidity -‐ Methane metabolism -‐ CO2 dynamics
A placorm for studying processes and interac<ons between climate and ecosystems in the Spanish territory
