Students who meet the attendance requirement and complete the SDG Hack COVID-19 related updates: Due to the COVID-10 situation, Tsinghua University Global Summer School (GSS) has announced that the summer programme will be offered 100% online for 2021. Students may apply for module mapping and transfer a maximum of 8 MCs (this is applicable only to online summer programmes 2021). Some Faculties/Schools (including School of Computing) will not approve module mapping for online courses. Please check with your home faculty’s Dean’s Office to determine if module mapping can be approved for online courses before applying to the partner university.

7 Application Procedure

1. Students must first apply and accept the programme offer in NUS Education Records System (EduRec) in order to be considered for the tuition-waiver places.

2. Selected students are required to accept internal offer in EduRec by given deadline in order to be nominated to Tsinghua GSS.

3. Selected students will submit an application to Tsinghua GSS via http://www.gss.tsinghua.edu.cn/index.jsp

4. Final acceptance to the summer programme is decided by Tsinghua GSS. Note: NUS’ nomination does not guarantee admission to the programme, admission to the programme is determined by Tsinghua GSS.

8 Module Mapping Students interested in obtaining credit can start the module mapping process after applying and accepting the offer for the programme in EduRec. Click here for a step-by-step guide on applying for module mapping. Students may apply for module mapping and transfer a maximum of 8 MCs from electronic summer programmes during a student's course of study at NUS. If a student has transferred 4 MCs from an electronic summer programme in 2020, only a maximum of 4 MCs can be transferred from an electronic summer programme in 2021. Module mapping* is subject to approval by the respective faculties; refer to this list of FAQs for additional information. A total of 12 MCs from a maximum of 2 summer/winter and research programmes (inclusive of electronic/online programmes) can be mapped without having to pay NUS tuition. Additional MCs mapped will be subjected to Special Term fees. For details, visit the Registrar’s Office website. * BT/CS/IS-coded modules offered by SoC cannot be mapped.

1. About the ProgramIn July 2020, in response to and learning from the challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Tsinghua University held its first virtual summer school, Tsinghua GSS 2020, to offer global leaders of tomorrow an exceptional interdisciplinary platform to be immersed and inspired. Over 1,000 young talents from 154 universities across 79 different countries and regions attended the virtual summer school, and undertook courses taught by distinguished scholars and practitioners from China and abroad. This year, Tsinghua will continue the effort. Tsinghua GSS 2021, themed Innovation for the SDGs, will explore innovative ways to solve critical challenges related to society, economy and environment, with the SDGs as a core reference point. Learning ObjectivesTsinghua GSS combines Tsinghua’s world-class teaching and research resources with virtual engagements that showcase Chinese culture and Tsinghua’s spirit of academic excellence. This year’s GSS will increase participants’ awareness of innovation and creativity, stimulate their consciousness and critical thinking to explore and solve critical challenges related to society, economy and environment, with SDGs as a core reference point.

Expected OutcomesParticipants are expected to develop skills fundamental to global leadership, including in-depth problem analysis and exploration, presentation and expression, cross-cultural communication, and teamwork skills.

3. AssessmentStudents who meet the attendance requirement and complete the SDG Hack will be eligible for 1 academic credit and a Tsinghua GSS 2021 Certificate.
