    Sensor Energy Harvesting

    • Where will the power to drive 1 Trillion deviceswould come from?

    • Assume half of these sensors are slow speed (Few10-100Kbit/sec) and low power (few mW)

    • But, the remaining 50% of then sensors will behigh speed/High power. Even if an average is halfWatt/sensor, we are talking about 500 BW

    • With energy supply under severe scrutiny, how do

we power the 50B device an 1T sensors?

    Sensor/Actuator security

    • Trillion sensors will require (various level of)security, not same to all

    • A number of issues such as privacy, identity andsafety will need to be addressed

    • Sensors will have to be securitized• Physical security is an important consideration

    Sensor Processing at the Edge

    • Movement of data processing at the end node• With trillion sensors creating Brontobytes of data,

the end node will need storage, compute, comms, energy storage

    • Local decision capability at the node• Data reduction at the edge to reduce the load on

    the backhaul

    Social Issues around sensors

    • There will be number of social issues when citizensfind out that there are surrounded by sensorseverywhere surrounding them

    • How do we make sure we are able protect people’s

identity or is this a death of privacy as we see it• Is too much knowledge good?

    Analytics and Machine Learning

    1. Analytics will be very crucial in terms for IOTsuccess

    2. Analytics will need to be flexible so the nameimage can run anywhere

    3. Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence wouldcomplement static analytics

    4. The planet will see severe shortage of datascientists

    5. Note to children – learn your math!!
