What’s New in SAM 2007 5.0

Summary SAM 2007 5.0 incorporates new content, changes to current content, and new web site features.

Content Overview • 1094 Performance Based Tasks: includes Scenario 1, Scenario 2, and Training for each task

• Second scenario tasks added for all content,

• Training tasks added for all content,

• New remediation added for all the new tasks.

• Training tasks now compressed for faster loading

Web Site Features Overview • Student View: Allows Instructor’s to preview SAM as a Student without creating a separate “test”

account

• Training links added to Student Study Guides for Exam and Projects

• Support for Windows 7 both 32 and 64 bit

5.0 Web Site Update

Recommended Browser Settings The 5.0 release fully supports for Internet Explorer 6, 7, and 8 browsers.

For a detailed list of recommended browser settings, please see the “Configuring Your Browser” section

of the user manuals.

Software Downloads

Adobe’s Flash Player version 9.0.115.0 or higher is required to launch SAM assignments. (Flash Player

version 10 is recommended.)

Version Information

The site footer area now contains a new

Version link (currently “SAM v5.0”)

with more information about the site,

including a link to the latest release notes.

Instructor\Student View

Instructor\Student View enables an Instructor to preview student’s view

of the software without having to create a new student account and log

out of the software. To use, click on the Student View Button on the Left

Hand Navigation Bar.

Once on the Student

pages, the Instructor

will see everything as a

student sees it. They

are informed that they are on the Student pages by a message on the Title Bar. The Instructor can join

Sections, take Assignments, and view their Student Reports. Please note that Instructor results will only

be available under the student reports, not the section reports.

Study Guide Reports

Training links have been added to the Student Study Guide reports for both Exams and Projects that

enables students to view online Trainings remediated specific to their assignments. These links will only

be available if the corresponding Training has been scheduled by the instructor and that the student has

access to Training. Training exercises results that are launched from the Study Guide Reports are not

recorded since they are not scheduled assignments.

Known Issues: Web Site

Site Page Description

Users » Reset Exam Training assignments cannot be reset in this release.

Exams » Add New “Auto-generate companion training” is not available in

this release.

SAM Assignments » Deactivate When deactivating an assignment, the message

"...Results will still be available for reporting purposes."

is incorrect. Report results are available until the

assignment is re-activated by an administrator or your

institutions supervisor.

Known Issues: Content

Description Notes

WD1411: The task instruction tells the user to

select “Introduction” however the file

“Introduction” is not available.

The user needs to select “Instructions”. The user

can’t perform this task correctly in Assessment

unless they know this. Unfortunately, we are

unable to remove it from the SAM Product for 5.0.
