Christ makes this revelation: “If anyone comes to me without hating

wife and children, even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.” Saint

Paul demonstrates the depths of his discipleship in sending back to

Philemon the beloved Onesimus whom Paul cherishes as “my child, my

own heart.” The Lord wants to give us a grace that exceeds even the

love of a parent, a spouse, or a child. The kind of detachment that

Jesus calls for in the Gospel today creates the desire that disposes us

to receive all that God is eager to give us. Since “the earthen shelter

weighs down the mind that has many concerns,” the Lord insists that

we carry our own cross. For that cross separates us from anything that

conforms us to our own inadequate ideas and measures, so that we

XXIII Domingo Ordinario ~ 4 de Septiembre de 2016 ~ 23rd Sunday of Ordinary Time

fielmente a Cristo.

Act of Love

O my God, I love You above all things, with my whole heart and soul, because You are All-Good and worthy

of all love. I love my neighbor as myself for the love of You. I forgive all who have injured me, and I ask pardon of all whom I have injured.

What does the Catechism of the Catholic Church say?

Paragraph 478:

Jesus knew and loved us each and all during his life, his agony and his

Passion, and gave himself up for each one of us: "The Son of God. . .

loved me and gave himself for me." He has loved us all with a human

heart. For this reason, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, pierced by our sins

and for our salvation, "is quite rightly considered the chief sign and

symbol of that. . . love with which the divine Redeemer continually loves

the eternal Father and all human beings" without exception.

You are just, O Lord, and your judgment is right; treat your servant in accord with your merciful love. Psalm 119

Eucharistic Adoration

You are invited to participate in

Eucharistic Adoration each Friday.

Adoration begins after 8:15 Mass and

ends with Benediction at 11:50 am.

You can spend as much or as little

time as you desire.

Our Mission Statement

The mission of Saint Anthony of Padua Parish is to develop an atmosphere for the members

of our Faith Community to live out the four-fold goals of the Catholic Church:

Worship, Word, Service, & Community.

Legion of Mary

Meetings are Saturdays 10-11am in the conference room.

All welcomed. The Legion of Mary is a lay

Apostolic association of Catholics who, with the sanction of the

Church and under the powerful leadership of

Mary Immaculate, serve the Church and their

neighbor on a voluntary basis.

Prayer for Priests

O Jesus, our great High

Priest, Hear my

humble prayers on

behalf of your priest,

Father [N]. Give him a

deep faith, a bright and

firm hope and a

burning love

which will ever

increase in the course of

his priestly life. In his

loneliness, comfort him

in his sorrows,

strengthen him in his

frustrations, point out to

him that it is through

suffering that the soul is

purified, and show him

that he is needed by the

Church, he is needed by

souls, he is needed for

the work of

redemption. O loving

Mother Mary, Mother

of Priests, take to your

heart your son who is

close to you because of

his priestly ordination,

and because of the

power which he has

received to carry on the

work of Christ in a

world which needs him

so much. Be his

comfort, be his joy, be

his strength, and

especially help him to

live and to defend the

ideals of consecrated

celibacy. Amen.

Father in heaven, we thank You for the communion of saints so that we can draw near to You through the

prayers of St. Rosalia. Through her prayers help us to remember that our destiny is heaven. As St. Rosalia

forsook all for Your Kingdom, through her prayers may we love more fully for Your Son our Lord Jesus Christ,

who together with You and the Holy Spirit are one God forever and ever. Amen.

O God, our Father, You are offended by sin but pleased by penance. Mercifully look upon Your people who come to You and grant through the intercession of St. Rosalia, who turned away from earthly delights to the joys of contemplation, that we may be delivered

from the consequences of our sins and those of the world through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
