Salford City Reds confirmed a major new sponsorship deal with the Sal-ford Quays’ Medi-aCityUK develop-ment, which will see the MediaCi-tyUK logo feature as the main spon-sor on the Reds’ playing kit from the start of the 2012 season, as well as providing addi-tional branding for the media complex throughout the new £26m City of Salford Community Stadium.

The beginning of an exciting stra-tegic partnership between the two Salford-based organizations, the deal is in place for the Reds’ inaugu-ral Super League season in the brand new City of Salford Community Sta-dium at Barton and the club believes it has the potential to be the most impor-tant deal in Super League’s history.

Reds CEO, David Tarry believes that

the Sponsorship will be of signifi-cant importance to the game, and that makes it of great importance to the club par-ticularly at a time when decisions are being made about which clubs are to be given three year licences.

“The game is des-perate to gain the media presence that it deserves and having the BBC and BBC sport in par-ticular along with

Granada TV and Ra-dio 5 live and many other media organi-sations that will no doubt follow all concentrated in one area, it makes a great deal of sense for the game to have a presence, said Tarry.

“In my opinion the Manchester region is now an area that should be treated in the same way as London, Wales and France in so far as they have been identified by the RFL as “Of special significance” and that’s something we are pursuing.

“The coming of Media City UK only enhances that view more and the fact that what is a “World” renowned Brand is backing a Super League Club at this time can only help our continued push to remain at the high-est level.

Owned by the Peel Group MediaCityUK replaces the spon-sorship by The Traf-ford Centre for the past six seasons.

Gordon McKinnon, Director of Opera-tions at The Trafford Centre, said:

“We’ve been really pleases to have been so closely associ-ated with Salford City Reds over the past six years. The Trafford Centre has enjoyed an extremely productive relation-ship with The Reds and the promotional and charity work un-dertaken in conjunc-tion with the players has been immense.

“We hope that our re-lationship continues to blossom, espe-cially with the Reds move to their promi-nent new location Adjacent to The Traf-ford Centre, which of course sees over 30 million visitors to the location each year.

“We wish the play-ers, management, committee and sup-porters of the Reds all the very best for the 2012 season and beyond. Our name may not be on the shirts but we’ll still be cheering on the Reds”
