National Landmark Designation Honors AESII’s Legacy In October, hundreds of people attended the celebration of the Stevenson Farm’s designation as a National Historic Landmark. The event was co-sponsored by the Lake County Forest Preserve District and the Adlai Stevenson Center on Democracy. The LCFPD’s dedicated docents offered free tours of the Stevenson Home to visitors, and, later that afternoon, they witnessed the official designation of the farm’s status by the United States Department of the Interior. Commenting on the significance of the event, Senator Adlai Stevenson III remarked to Daily Herald journalist, Gilbert R. Boucher II, "This is very exciting. The whole property will be preserved forever. Not only is it a beautiful property, but more importantly I think it will remind people of what my father stood for in our politics. A very different politics where winning wasn't the only objective but it was serving and informing people. I hope it will recall the values which he exemplified."

Kristin Szremski shares a Palestinian Narrative on the Middle East at the Stevenson Center

In November, Kristin Szremski, director of Media and Communication for American Muslims for Palestine, presented a Palestinian narrative on the Middle East. American Muslims for Palestine is an education and advocacy organization that promotes human rights for Palestinians. There were many heated questions for Ms. Szremski from the audience members, but the lively discussion offered an opportunity to hear both sides of a debate that resonates deeply with all of us. It was a pleasure to offer Stevenson Center guests an opportunity to hear Ms. Szremski's point of view and to share their own. The Adlai Stevenson Center on Democracy –
