ANNUAL MEETING The Sports Museum of

Dutchess County will be

holding its Annual Meeting

on Sunday December 2,

2012, at Aloy’s Restaurant

in Poughkeepsie at 1:00

PM. Year End Reports will

be read at the meeting.

Nominations & elections of

Board Members will be

held. All members are

invited. Refreshments will

be served.

BOWLING EVENTS

The Sports Museum will again be hosting a series

of bowling events at local establishments. The first event

is scheduled for October 01 – October 15 at the Fishkill

Bowl, followed by an event from November 04 – 18 at the

Holiday Bowl. Additional events are scheduled for the

Mardi Bob Lanes, and Southern Dutchess Lanes.

CROSS COUNTRY RUN The Sports Museum will be

holding a 5K-Cross County Run and

a 1- mile kids run on Saturday November 03

at 9:30 a.m. at Carnwath Farms off Wheeler

DAILY LOTTO

That time of the year again. The Sports Museum will be holding their Annual November Lotto based on the

New York daily evening drawing. Drawings will be held every day during the month of November.

Enclosed with this newsletter are lottery tickets. Tickets are priced at $10.00 per ticket. Please help support

the Museum by mailing your tickets, including your favorite three digit numbers and a check payable to the

2012 INDUCTEE DINNER

The 2012 inductee selection committee meeting was held on Sunday

June 3rd

and the following organizations & individuals were selected for

Induction:

NICK JOHNSON, Jr. & MIGUEL RODRIGUEZ

The Induction Dinner will be held on Sunday October 7th

at the Wappingers Falls Knights of

This year we will be offering a choice of meals, which will include Prime Rib, Chicken Marcella or

Fish. Please indicate what meal you would prefer when you contact Cheryl.

BASEBALL/FAMILY DAY

The Annual Family Picnic held on July

29th

at the Museum was a success. Bob Mayer

talking about past baseball history in the Hudson

Valley was very interesting and generated many

questions. Bobs display of an old Poughkeepsie

Chiefs uniform and uniforms from a Wassaic

team and an Amenia team along with different

baseball programs, supplemented the Museum

display. Approximately 100 people attended

including Walt Patrice, who is 93 years young. He

talked to many people and had many stories to

tell. It was a very interesting day and the Museum

made many new friends.

CLOSEST to PIN CONTESTS

After being rained on June 9th

, our first fund raiser was held on June 16th

at Casperkill Golf Course.

It was a clear sunny day and short of golfers. There were 22 participants. The winner was Sal Calta

from the Town of Lagrange, with a putt measuring 22’ 9”. Our second fund-raiser was held on a day of

blue sky, white clouds and a perfect temperature at McCann Golf Course. We had 59 participants. The winner was

Bruce Potter from the Town of Poughkeepsie, with a putt measuring 7’ 3”. On July 14th

we had another weather

perfect day at Dutchess Golf & Country Club. We had 57 participants with the winner being Duane Hutton from the

Town of Poughkeepsie with a closest to the pin of 11’10”. Our last event was held on Sunday July 22 at Beekman

Country Club with another picturesque day. We had a total of 34 golfers participate with the winner being Tom

Lynch from Garden City with a Closest to the Pin of 9’11”.

BOXING EXHIBIT The Sports Museum of Dutchess County will

present a boxing exhibit on Sunday August 19, 2012 at

the Museum, located off Wheeler Hill Road in the Town

of Wappinger. The program will start at 12:00 and run

until 4:00 PM. The day will feature boxing displays of

various fighters who were from Dutchess County or

trained in Dutchess County and a chance to meet Tracy

Patterson, 2 time World Boxing Champion. The Museum

will be open for people to learn about the history of

sports in Dutchess County. Admission and the Museum

Scholarship Awards for a male student athlete were Daniel Bogucki from Fishkill & Michael R. Scolozza from

Poughquag. The Female scholarship winners were Lindsay Asselmeyer from Union Vale & Alyssa Nobel from

LaGrangeville. Each recipient will receive a $500.00 scholarship to their respective colleges.
