Greetings, Here we come 2017!!!!! Fueled with energy and passion to serve our community. That shared passion, that shared belief, is what motivates us all, gives us the sense of belonging and excites us about accomplishing the same mission and being a part of Trum-bull Mobile Meals.

I would be amiss if I didn’t start off by thanking everyone who has helped Trumbull Mobile Meals in 2016. We are humbly filled with gratitude for all your help no matter how big or small it was. With-out all your help and investment we could not do what we do. So from all of us at Trumbull Mobile Meals “THANK YOU.” Thank you for your time, donations, support through various fundraisers, flowers, vehicle maintenance, newspapers, funding, making cards and simply decorating bags. It all matters and has a huge impact on the agency.

In closing, our passion is what shapes our purpose at Trumbull

Mobile Meals. Our purpose is to “ensure no one goes hungry in

our community.” But most importantly, that shared purpose is

what brings together all of us, a winning team. And that is what

leads to a long-term success. Together, we will rise and together,

we will succeed in doing so.

March for Meals is a nationwide awareness and fundraising

campaign designed to focus attention on the existence of

senior hunger in the United States. On March 11th we

held our annual Edward C. Taylor Memorial Walk at the

Eastwood Mall. We had approximately 50 walkers raising

over $1500. We would also like to thank our event

sponsor Paige & Byrnes Insurance.

In conjunction with March for Meals we had our

Community Champions week March

20-24 with a lunch on Wednesday,

March 22nd.

Crumble sausage into a Dutch oven; add onion. Cook and stir over medi-um heat until the meat is no longer pink. Drain, reserving 1/4 cup drippings; set sausage aside. Sauté kale in reserved drippings until wilt-ed. Add the garlic and, if desired, pepper flakes; cook for 1 minute. Add the wine; cook 2 minutes long-er.

Stir in the stock, beans, diced toma-toes, dried tomatoes, pepper and sausage mixture. Bring to a boil. Re-duce heat; cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until kale is tender. Enjoy!
