R osa Beyat and Ali Mazinani met on February 7, 2009 through mutual friends at a dinner party. Ali was about to leave, but once he and Rosa noticed each other, he decided to stay and it became obvious that

they couldn’t take their eyes off one another. He finally went up to her and they hit it off right away. The night ended too soon, but it wasn’t long after that Ali asked Rosa out on a date. “We ended up having our first date on Valentine’s Day and it was only the start of many other dates,” shares Rosa. Seven years later, Ali was in the midst of organizing an epic proposal to take place on the day before Rosa’s birthday. In the days prior, Ali told Rosa that he had something special planned for her, revealing only that she needed to be ready on time and wear something warm. When the day came, Ali called Rosa and asked her to be ready even sooner than he’d originally said, but didn’t provide further explanation. Ali drove them to the secret destination and upon their arrival, Rosa saw a helicopter and realized Ali was taking her on a romantic helicopter ride. They boarded the aircraft and flew to a scenic lake, where they got out to walk around and take in the natural surroundings. Just as Rosa turned to comment on how beautiful it was, she saw Ali down on one knee. “It was the most special, breathtaking moment of my life,” recalls the bride. Turns out, the reason Ali told Rosa to be ready earlier was that the weather had taken a turn, and they needed to get to the helicopter before it got worse in order to ensure Ali’s dream proposal went off without a hitch!

The wedding took place on August 18, 2017 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Haleh Tafteh of details by haleh provided full-service planning and design assistance.

Rosa and Ali were wed in a traditional Persian ceremony at the fairmont hotel vancouver.

The decor was classic and elegant, with an ivory and gold colour palette dominating

throughout. The bridesmaids wore peach-hued chiffon gowns from david’s bridal.

Rosa and Ali sat at their own sweetheart table set on an elevated

platform. They were surrounded by white orchids running along

the front edge of the table and arranged in gold vases on white

For the reception, guests made their way into the Grand Ballroom at the fairmont hotel vancouver where a white and gold colour palette was again utilized. Day-of stationery was custom-made in Iran and shipped to Canada for the wedding.

GOLDEN HOUR

The white and gold,

Ballroom at the Fairmont

Hotel Vancouver, along

with the couple’s initials

inside a heart. The

confection was prepared

by le gateau bake shop.

Rosa and Ali’s heart monogram,

which they designed themselves,

was not only seen on the cake and

stationery, but also on the dance

floor from éclat decor inc. It was on

the dance floor that Rosa and Ali

had their first dance as husband and

wife. “We loved having our first

dance. We had practiced this before

in front of family, but the day of our

wedding, everything went so

smoothly. We were completely in

that moment together, not noticing

anything else,” shares Ali.

ENDNOTES For their Insta-worthy honeymoon, Rosa and Ali travelled to the Maldives, where they stayed at the sheraton full moon resort & spa. They woke up every morning in their private bungalow on the water and according to Rosa, “We were truly in paradise. It was the most romantic place for a honeymoon. It was relaxing, quiet, and the ideal spot to celebrate being husband and wife.” The newlyweds currently reside in Coquitlam.
