Auberon’s Visit on Dress Up Your Pet Day / January 14, 2021 Auberon dressed in one of his best shirts and came for a visit. Today was vaccination day for the residents. Auberon was glad to set in laps and comfort the residents. He spread his love around while care staff took residents in for covid-19 vaccines. It was a busy morning. After all the vaccines were done he went to the memory care unit to visit with residents there. The smiles were awesome. Then to the Activities Director’s office for a nap before bingo. Auberon loved the visit as much as the residents did.

A TRIP TO THE FARM

There are 26 new additions to the farm in the last 2 months. We have kids everywhere and in all different colors. You have heard of “Goat Yoga” well we call it goat therapy. Tired of Covid-19 and quarantine? Take a trip to the farm and play with the kids. These kids are the sweetest little things, They don’t talk back and the love a good scratch and a cuddle. I am not sure who liked this more the kids or the adults. To top it off it was Mrs. Cooper’s birthday and right before we got there a set of twins were born. The little girl was named after Mrs. Cooper. We will be taking another trip to the farm as soon as we can.

A Crackerjack Idea

Sugar-coated popcorn and peanuts were a common snack at the end of the 19th century, but in 1896 Fritz and Louis

Rueckheim created a formula that prevented the mix of popcorn and peanuts from sticking together. One customer who sampled this idea found it so wonderful that he exclaimed, “That’s a crackerjack!” The Cracker Jack name was born. It wasn’t until February 19, 1913, that Cracker Jack placed the first of their famous prizes inside a box. These were small prizes such as metal tops, tiny joke books, paper dolls, and even miniature furniture. When Cracker Jack began offering prizes in a set or series, sales soared; people wanted to collect entire sets. Perhaps the most famous prizes of all were the baseball cards of 1914. Today, a complete set of 144 cards is worth tens of thousands of dollars.

January 14, 2021 Covid-19 Vaccines For All

This was a very busy Thursday. Walgreens came to our home and vaccinated the residents and staff for Covid-19. This is the beginning. They will be back on February 04, 2021 to give boosters. We have not had any bad reactions to the vaccines. We are hoping to help stop the spread of this terrible virus.

Stuff A Cruiser

What a great success this was. With the stuff toys we received at Trinity shores and the ones from the Sherriff’s Department we stuffed two (2) cruisers. One for the sheriff’s department and one for the police department. We had coffee, hot chocolate, popcorn and s’mores. The music was playing and residents sang along as we watch friends and family drive by and drop off stuffed toys. Thanks to all who helped and donated. A great big thank you to all the officers that stopped by and visited with our residents. We are grateful for everything our officers do to for our city.
