“The Scriptures testify about me.” (John 5:39) Parish Caller September 2014 When we hear and read the Bible, what are we looking for? Some expect to hear rules for living. Others seek out good stories that have a moral for life. And others want to find inspiring examples of great human achievement. What are we looking for? It is bet- ter to ask, “Whom are we looking for?” The answer is simple: Jesus. He is the center of the holy Scriptures. They testify about him. From Genesis through Revelation Christ is the center of the Bible. The book on which we base our faith, our lives and our eternity is Christ-centered. Because we find Jesus at the center of the Bible, we want to hear, read and study this precious book. Whenever we do, we are warmed by his love, comforted with his peace, filled with the hope of eternal life, and strengthened to live for him. We never tire of finding Jesus, our Savior and Lord, in his Word. So let’s keeping hearing, reading and studying the Christ-centered Scriptures! Our con- gregational ministry promotes such activity. In September we resume the full schedule of Bible studies. We will offer the following (all meet at church): Sundays (starting 9-7 at 9:15 am) Our Christian Response to Specific Spiritual Chal- lenges. Other topics for the fall include “Christian Counseling in the WELS,” 1 Peter and Genesis 1-3. Sundays (starting 9-14 at 9:15 am) Heart in Focus (personal and family finances in the light of God’s Word) Mondays (starting 9-8 at 7:00 am) Very Important Chapters of the Bible Thursdays (starting 9-4 at 10:30 am) 1 Samuel You are invited to attend one or more! As with every opportunity to read and hear God’s saving word, the Holy Spirit will bring blessings to your faith and life. You will find the time spent with fellow Christians beneficial too. SO MUCH MORE ndash Every time we have an event for THE ROC we enjoy SO MUCH MORE than what is on the sur-face For example over $11000 was raised for THE ROC from the recent ROC Rummage Sale But SO MUCH MORE happened in connection with the rummage sale that is priceless It is truly amazing to watch how many volun-teers out of love for their Savior and others give so much of their time with some helping every day of the sale The fellowship among the volunteers is unique and extremely close Many people attending the sale asked questions about THE ROC and we were able to share not only perti-nent information about THE ROC but also how THE ROC stands on our Savior and God People in need were given the opportunity at the end of the sale to take for free

whatever would be of help to them A homeless family which included a teen who is now attending the ROC due to contact at the rummage sale was helped tremen-dously The list of priceless moments could go on and on We thank our Lord for His blessings and we thank all those who give so much to the mission and ministry of THE ROC

Volunteers to help supervise are greatly needed at THE ROC Helping at THE ROC is a great volunteer op-portunity for Christ as you can help as little as a few hours a month or every week Stop by to talk to Pastor Mueller to see if serving at THE ROC is meant for you Thank you

The Joy of Serving Over the next year we will focus on a dif-

ferent areas of service available here at

Trinity With each opportunity to serve

we hope you will prayerfully consider

how you can show your love of God with your actions

Trinity-St Lukersquos School Repor t

It was Forty Years Ago

The cornerstone of the Western Avenue campus building was laid on June 2 1974 This year is the fortieth anniversary of the building that several thousand children have attended over the past forty years It was a challenging but wise project for Trinity Lutheran Church In the July 1974 issue of Trinityrsquos The Parish Caller Pastor Walter Schumann Trin-ityrsquos pastor at that time commented Wherever and whenever members of the Trinity gather the conversation sooner or later seems to revert to the school We are gratified at the high level of interest and support that our people are showing for this vitally important project

and urge that it continue Recently the comment was made that Trinity Lutheran Church had a burning passion for full-time Christian education for their children four decades ago That passion was there too as St Lukersquos Lutheran Church started sending their own students and called teachers to become Trinity-St Lukersquos Lutheran School The passion was there as the congregations committed themselves to a joint school with the accompanying building projects Is the passion still there What is the level of interest and support today in 2014 for your school Is it worth it Maybe our question should be this What is it worth to train our children to know their Savior Jesus and to live their lives in service to Him Obviously there is nothing more valuable to a Christian parent than that their child also know Jesus It is so important that all of our teachers have been trained to share the Word of God with children and have dedicated their lives to serve the Lord in this ministry It is so important that Trinity and St Lukersquos congregations pro-vide our families with these trained teachers with wonderful facilities and with monetary gifts brought out of love for Jesus to financially maintain the school It is impossible to put a price tag on bringing children to Jesus Like Pastor Schumann stated in the article he wrote we encourage ldquothat it continuerdquo May the Good Shepherd bless our efforts as we provide for His lambs and sheep As we pray the Lordrsquos blessings on another school year some dates to consider are in order

Sunday August 24 Christian Education Sunday at Trinity with the installation of Mrs Michelle Wegner at our new kindergarten teacher at the 930 am service

Tuesday August 26 the first day of school Opening day chapel will be held at the Clark Street campus at 810 am in St Lukersquos Church and at 900 am at the Western Avenue campus in the gymnasium

Volunteers to help supervise are greatly needed at THE ROC Helping at THE ROC is a great volunteer op-portunity for Christ as you can help as little as a few hours a month or every week Stop by to talk to Pastor Mueller to see if serving at THE ROC is meant for you Thank you

we hope you will prayerfully consider

how you can show your love of God with your actions

Tuesday August 26 the first day of school Opening day chapel will be held at the Clark Street campus at 810 am in St Lukersquos Church and at 900 am at the Western Avenue campus in the gymnasium

Friday August 29 and Monday September 1 are days of no school due to the Labor Day weekend Sunday August 31 Mrs Tammie Kassulke will be installed as first grade teacher at St Lukersquos Lutheran

Friday August 29 and Monday September 1 are days of no school due to the Labor Day weekend Sunday August 31 Mrs Tammie Kassulke will be installed as first grade teacher at St Lukersquos Lutheran

Church in their 930 am service We thank the Lord that he has granted us a complete faculty for the 2014-2015 school year We welcome Mrs Wegner as our new kindergarten teacher and we welcome Mrs Kassulke as our first grade teacher May the Lord bless their service among us And may the Lord bless our school year
