The library was completed in 1695 to the design of Sir Christopher Wren, who was responsible for the design of the building and also for the bookcases and furni-ture. Features of special interest include the decora-tive wood-carving by Grinling Gibbons, the marble busts of eminent Trinity men carved by Roubiliac and Scheemakers, the statue of Lord Byron by Bertel Thor-valdsen, and the south facing painted glass window by Giovanni Battista Cipriani. There are six exhibition cases in which a small fraction of the library’s treasures are on display.
