The M.Phil. in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation

The Master in Conflict Resolution is offered within Trinity’s Belfast-based M.Phil. in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation.

This joint course enables study in both specialist fields within the M.Phil. in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation.

European Credit Transfer System

Trinity’s courses are organised in a modular structure in accordance with the European Credit Transfer Scheme (ECTS)

The complexities of political identity, national allegiance and religious loyalty in ‘post-conflict’ Northern Ireland. 10 ECTS.


Optional module –Theology of Reconciliation

Christian theologies of reconciliation and their relevance for addressing violence and conflict. 10 ECTS.


Optional module –Community in Learning and

Reflective Practice in Northern Ireland

A placement or internship with a community-based organisation in Northern Ireland. 10 ECTS.


Optional module - South Africa Ethics of Truth and Reconciliation

The ethical challenges faced by the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission. 5 ECTS.

Optional module –Post-Conflict Justice and Truth Commissions

The challenges of truth-recovery and post-conflict justice in Latin America and other societies. 10 ECTS.

Dissertation

Research dissertation on an agreed topic of personal interest.15,000-20,000 words. 30 ECTS.

The course equips graduates for work with local and international organisations, and provides transferable skills for a wide variety of careers, including mediation, diplomacy, policy, advocacy, journalism, teaching and Ph.D. research.
