Death Volume 12 From Duke Turpin's Notes: Henry Green Trimble was a Captain in Company G, Third Kentucky Infantry, Union Army. He lost an arm in the siege of Atlanta. He was Circuit Court Clerk of Pulaski County for 24 years, and was one of the McKinley electors from Kentucky. He was also the Postmaster of Somerset, Kentucky from June 22, 1898 until January 16, 1903. Order Book 14, Page 246, Pulaski County Court, H.G. Book 102, Page 167. <KY Land Grants, Page 1754> From Harry Miller: In a deposition given on 03 July, 1896, at Somerset, Kentucky, concerning the Wounding of Leroy Whitus, Henry Green Trimble states his age as 53, occupation attorney, and his address as Somerset, Kentucky. He was addressing a medical review examiner, M.R. King.

“I was a Sgt. in Co C, Third Kentucky Infantry and (saw) Leroy Whitus immediately after he was shot on the field at Recasa, Georgia. I saw his arm several times before I filed his application which gave him the $36.00 rating and he had sores there and it was inflamed. I must have seen his arm sore as many as a dozen times in all. I think I saw it a few times after he got his increase but have not seen his arm in the last four or five years, or perhaps longer.”

Not only were they acquaintances, they were friends. Leroy was fighting to keep his pension and unfriendly people fought it hard. Green Trimble was Leroy's sergeant in the last days of his enlistment. Leroy named his oldest son "Green Whitus". Pulaski County, Kentucky by: Mary Weddle Kaurish "Mills Springs National Cemetery is located in the western part of the county. This is the site of the battle of Mills Springs, or Logans Crossroads, and was a turning point in the Civil War. General Zollicoffer, of the Confederate army, was killed in the battle and a monument marks the spot. Nearby, is a marker of the grave containing over one hundred Confederate soldiers.

The land for the Union soldiers was donated by S. (W.) H. LOGAN, and that for the Confederate soldiers was donated by his daughter, Colanza TRIMBLE." She died on 9 Jul 1924 in Pulaski County, Kentucky.37 From Duke Turpin's notes: Colanza Frances Logan, daughter and eldest child of William Harrison and Nancy Sally Logan, married Henry Green Trimble. While Mrs. Green Trimble was not a Confederate sympathizer, she gave the land off of the Logan estate for Zollicoffer Park. This cemetery was established in 1910 to mark the site of the mass grave of the Confederate casualties who were buried there, and to commemorate the spot where their leader, General Felix Zollicoffer had fallen in battle. Mrs. Trimble's children relate that their mother felt, and often said, "that was sacred ground and should be taken care of." As soon as she became the owner of the ground she deeded it to Bennett H. Young and others. She hoped it would always be cared for. Henry Green TRIMBLE and Colanza Frances LOGAN had the following children: +93 i. William Edwin TRIMBLE. +94 ii.
