Traditional roof waterproofing materials are commonly applied using hot works. This method of installation has proven to pose a significant fire risk and can possibly increase or even invalidate a contractors insurance. Additionally, installations that require the use of hot works often need to be limited to school holiday periods or when the building is unoccupied, potentially leading to a cost increase for roof maintenance.

The school roof had reached the end of its life and the water ingress posed a risk of structural damage and potential health and safety issues to the school. The Triflex ProTect® system was selected due to its compatibility with the existing roof membrane, its rapid cold application and minimal disruption to the school.

The failing external asphalt walkways of the college had cracks running across their width and potential trip hazards were beginning to form.
