The win improved Indy to 2-3 in extra-inning games this year and capped a difficult 2-5 road trip. Kevin Kramer had the game-winning hit in the 11th, singling through a drawn-in infield to score Austin Meadows. Wyatt Mathisen added a sacrifice fly later in the frame to give Jesus Liranzo (W, 1-1) an insurance run. Jose Osuna hit a two-run homer in the first, and two runs scored in the second on a fielder's choice by Kevin Newman. The second run was a result of a throwing error by Knights second baseman Ryan Brett on the turn to first. Mitch Keller started for Indy and struck out seven over four innings of two-run ball. He allowed three hits and four walks, throwing 87 pitches (48 strikes) along the way. Alex McRae tossed 3.2 innings in relief, yielding two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks with one punchout. He couldn't finish off Charlotte in the ninth and was charged with a blown save. The Indians drew eight walks offensively. OFF DAY NEWS: Right-handed pitcher Casey Sadler had his contract selected by Pittsburgh yesterday. In a corresponding move, left-hander Josh Smoker was designated for assignment, leaving the Tribe with 23 players for tonight's series opener against Rochester. Sadler, 28, returns to the big leagues for the first time since April 12, 2015, when he made a spot start for Francisco Liriano and earned his first and only MLB win with 5.0 innings of two-run ball at Milwaukee. He underwent Tommy John surgery in Nov. 2015 and missed the entire 2016 campaign. Sadler was 5-5 with a 3.46 ERA (26 ER/67.2 IP) in 24 games (seven starts) for Indy this year. Since May 3 (20 games/5 starts), he was 5-3 with one save, a 2.30 ERA (14 ER/54.2 IP) and a near 3-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio (46 K/16 BB). ROCKING ROCHESTER: The Indians and Red Wings met at Frontier Field from June 5-7, with the Tribe earning a three-game sweep. Indy outscored Rochester 20-2, including a pair of shutouts to bookend the set. The Tribe hit .303 (33-for-109) with 13 extra-base hits, and the pitching staff put up a 0.67 ERA (2 ER/27.0 IP). The road sweep in Rochester was just the third for Indy dating back to 1988; the other two road sweeps came in 2013 (4-0) and 2015 (3-0). The Indians have not lost a home series to the Red Wings since 2005 (1-3). MULTI-KRAMER x4: Kevin Kramer has recorded multiple hits in four straight games and leads the team with 32 multi-hit games this season, 21 of which have occurred on the road. On Indy's most recent seven-game road trip, he hit .577 (15-for-26) with three doubles, three RBI, four runs scored and three stolen bases. Kramer has hit safely in 12 of his last 14 road starts, batting .481 (25-for-52) with six doubles, one triple and six RBI in those games combined. For the season, his home/road splits are drastic; his triple-slash line in 47 road games is .352/.414/.568 compared to .242/.293/.404 in 44 games at Victory Field. RBI STREAK ENDS: Adam Frazier tallied six RBI in the four-game set at Gwinnett and had one RBI in each of the first two games in Charlotte, giving him a career-high six consecutive games with at least one RBI. That streak was snapped on Sunday but is still tied for the longest by a Tribe player this season (also: Jordan Luplow, June 25-30). KKKKKKKELLER: Mitch Keller struck out seven Knights batters on Sunday, his seventh start of the season with seven-plus strikeouts and second straight with Indy. He had 10 punchouts over 6.0 innings on July 10 vs. Louisville. ANOTHER SOUTHPAW: Tonight will be Indy's 33rd game of the season facing a left-handed starter. They've gone 21-11 in the first 32 games but went 2-3 against southpaws on the last road trip. They faced lefties Kolby Allard, Max Fried and Luiz Gohara in Gwinnett before facing Matt Tomshaw and Jordan Guerrero in Charlotte. As a team, the Indians are batting .287 with 31 home runs and a .475 slugging percentage against left-handed pitchers this season. Against righties, the Tribe are hitting .267 with 38 home runs and a .395 slugging percentage. SO LONG, IL SOUTH: The Indians are done playing IL South Division teams this season. The Tribe went 14-19 against the IL South, just the sixth time they've finished below .500 against that division since they rejoined the IL in 1998. Indy had never lost the season series to the South as a Pirates affiliate (since 2005) prior to this season. Indy went 5-1 vs. Norfolk and 9-18 against the rest of the division this year. MAGNIFICO MAGNIFICENT: Damien Magnifico has shut down IL batters over his last five outings, allowing just five hits and two walks with 11 strikeouts in 10 shutout innings combined. It's his longest scoreless stretch of the season. Tonight's Starter: Left-hander Brandon Waddell will start tonight in the series opener against Rochester. The 24-year-old began his 2018 campaign with Double-A Altoona, where he went 2-1 with a 2.68 ERA (16 ER/53.2 IP) in nine games (eight starts). He entered the season ranked as Pittsburgh's No. 19 prospect by Baseball America, who also tabbed him as having the "Best Changeup" among Pirates farmhands prior to both the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

Last Outing: Waddell scattered nine hits over 5.1 innings of two-run ball last Wednesday at Gwinnett. He walked two and struck out six and took a no-decision in Indy's eventual 4-2 walk-off loss. He has allowed nine hits in three of four starts since returning to the rotation on June 29. Over three July starts, he's 1-0 with a 1.86 ERA (4 ER/19.1 IP) with 18 strikeouts and five walks.

Against the Red Wings: Waddell earned his first career Triple-A victory on June 5 at Rochester, throwing 5.2 shutout innings in a 5-0 triumph. He limited the Red Wings offense to just four hits and two walks with five strikeouts. The start would be his longest in a Tribe uniform until July 4 vs. Louisville (7.0ip, 9h, 2r/er, 2bb, 3k).

Miscellaneous: Waddell pitched three years at the University of Virginia (2013-15) and won a NCAA National Champion-ship with the Cavaliers his junior season. At UVA, he holds the program records in career starts with 53; the Cavaliers went 39-14 in those starts. He made five College World Series starts in his career, and UVA went 5-0 in those games. He attended Clear Lake High School in Houston, Texas. During his pro career, he was an MiLB.com Organization All-Star in 2016 and has won three Pitcher of the Week Awards, two in 2016 (Florida State League, 5/2/16; Eastern League, 6/27/16) and one this season (International League, 7/16/18).
