Origin of Tribal Dance
Tribal dance is an ancient and one of the oldest forms of dance. Its origin comes from the tribal people living all around the world. There are many different tribes in the world. Every tribe has their own form of tribal dance.
Tribal dances usually have a story to tell. They tell stories of the religion, lifestyle or origins of the tribe. Tribal dance is associated with steady beats which makes it more fun to listen.
Tribal Dance
American Indian: Their dance is connected with the invocation for blessings on their crops and for
rain. A few tribes dance recalling victories.

If you wish to part take in a tribal dance, here
is what you need to do:
Prepare some simple gears or props required
for a dance. Choose a fast tribal drum beat
music. Try some creative stints by face
painting or doing something different.
Here are our tips for creating some gears for
the tribal dance for preschoolers:
Materials required:
Green construction paper
Strings/ ribbons
Glue & Scissors
During preschool years children become more proficient at coordinating the motions of their arms and legs. They develop stronger muscles and their brains become more powerful; their motor skills also improve tremendously.
Brisk activities like swinging, climbing and
balancing are enjoyed by them.(Kail &
Zolner 218)
Taking these aspects into consideration,
making the preschoolers indulge in a tribal
dance experience would be an exciting and a
real learning experience for the children as it
would not only limit to the gross motor
developmental domain, but also extend to
fine motor, cognitive, social, emotional and
self-awareness.
Let’s create a tribal set up and dance to the tribal beatsTribal dance - a physical activity for preschoolers
Procedure:
Cut the green construction papers into
shapes of leaves, sizes as desirable. Attach
the leaves one to the other using ribbons or
strings, this is your waist band. Make a
head band with construction paper and
attach the cut leaves to it. Now the gear is
ready. To give artistic effects, do some
painting using non-toxic face paint.
Now that the gear is made and everyone is
ready to jive, put on the tribal music,
preferably a fast and rhythmic one, and
begin the dance. Slow to fast movements,
with swaying of hands and quick
movements of the legs will do the job. So,
dance and have fun!
