Mechanical DriveChain Trencher

The 1260HDE™ is a heavy duty trencher witha proven mechanical power train whichprovides full horsepower at multiple chainspeeds for trenching and roadmining invarying conditions. The head shaft chaindrives are fully enclosed and run in an oil bathfor much longer life. All Trencor® trenchersfeature a unibody tractor frame weldment thatis stronger than bolted plate designs.

The 1260HDE has extra long crawlerswith standard 24-inch pads to ensure goodbalance, great maneuverability and flotationin tough terrain. Crawler assemblies andcounterweight can be removed for weightreduction during transport. The 1260HDE isavailable with chain widths up to 42 inchesand digging depths to 12 feet.

CONVEYORArc-type with 30" (76 cm) wide center-guided belt driven hydraulicallyfrom both ends. Speed is infinitely variable from 0 to 800 fpm (240 m/min). Conveyor is hydraulically shiftable from side to side and revers-ible in direction for spoil placement on either side of machine. Conveyorfolds within width of machine for transport.

CRAWLERSCaterpillar®-type, D-6 (standard) or D-7 (optional) sized components onan extra long frame for good stability and flotation with 24" (61cm) lowprofile single-, double- or triple grousers. Ground bearing pressure isapprox. 18.2 psi ( 1.28 kg/cm2) with 24" (61 cm) track shoes. Both un-dercarriage assemblies are easily removable for transport.

CRAWLER DRIVE AND STEERINGInfinitely variable hydrostatic/mechanical system for speeds from 0 to 2mph (3.2 km/h). Separate hydrostatic transmission for each track withelectric over hydraulic steering controls and heavy duty planetary gear-box direct-coupled to track drive sprocket. Tracks may be counter ro-tated for good maneuverability and easily adapted to automatic steer-ing system, either laser, stringline or GPS. Automatic parking brake isstandard.

BOOM HOISTBoom is elevated by double-acting, dual eight-inch hydraulic cylindersmounted to the substructure. The hoist provides positive down-pres-sure for increased stability holding grade, and adequate tailwheel clear-ance when tramming the machine.

OPERATOR’S STATIONFully enclosed, pressurized cab with filtration includes air conditioningand heat. All machine controls are within easy reach of the operator.Elevates hydraulically 36" (91 cm) for increased operator visibility andsound suppression.

POWER UNITCaterpillar® model C15 diesel engine, rated 425 hp (316.9 kW) @ 2,150rpm. Adequate cooling capacity for 125 degree (58°C) ambient tem-perature operation and two-stage air cleaner system. 24-volt electricstart and battery disconnect switch. Tier II compliant.

DIGGING CHAIN DRIVE ASSEMBLYMechanically driven through a multispeed transmission with integralthree-element torque converter and heavy duty differential to both endsof headshaft by means of double reduction, fully-enclosed and oil-bath-lubricated roller chain final drive boxes. Chain speeds: 1st gear-200fpm (61 m/min); 2nd gear-315 fpm (96 m/min); 3rd gear-461 fpm (141m/min); 4th gear-637 fpm (194 m/min).

DIGGING CAPACITYTrench widths of 16" (40 cm) through 42" (107 cm) in various incre-ments. At 10 ft. (3.05 m) depth, the maximum width is 42" (107 cm). At12 ft. (3.66 m) depth, the maximum width is 36" (91 cm).

DIGGING ASSEMBLYSeveral digging boom and chain assemblies are available to accom-modate a variety of width and depth combinations. All digging boomsare ruggedly constructed with high strength steel, internal baffles foradded rigidity, fill and drain ports for adding or deleting steel shot andeasily replaceable “floating type” bottom wear plates. All standard boomsare sectionalized to accommodate optional boom extensions for a va-riety of depth combinations. Standard digging chain options consist ofeither single Caterpillar type D8 for 16" to 20" widths, double D7 on 10"centers for 26" to 36" widths, double D7 on 16" centers for 32" to 42"widths or double D8 on 16" centers for 32" to 42" widths. Cutter barplates are made from T1 steel in 1.5" thickness (standard) or 2" thick-ness (optional) and incorporate heavy-duty 1.5" series conical toothblocks that accept a wide assortment of carbide tipped teeth. Tailwheelsare 48" diameter with high alloy forged outer races and are bolted toeither single or double flange housings with heavy-duty spherical bear-ings and double seal system for maximum endurance.

FUEL CAPACITYDual tanks, 250 gallon (946 L) total capacity provides 11-hour operat-ing range.

HYDRAULIC SYSTEMHydraulic system for propel, conveyor and cylinders includes oversize200 gallon (757 L) capacity reservoir with separate remote fan-drivenoil cooler.
