Assistant Director Report: Hello to the new year 2016 & good bye to 2015! I

hope everyone had the opportunity to celebrate the holidays with family & friends! Looking back on the

year besides the daily fun activities (P.J. days, spirit days, & dress up days) & special event days that

staff provided for the children; they also got to experience many exciting special programming

occasions.

In 2015 we had many great events, presentations & special guest speakers! T.K.C.C. had the

E.S.J.student Festival du Voyageur, Drums Alive, Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, & Petland

presentations that the children really enjoyed! The Bubble Party, a Family Fun Night, Fit Kids, Healthy

Kids, Mini Car Town, the Bike Rodeo, a Lego day, and the field trip to the Fort Whyte Centre were a big

hit! Five guest speakers were arranged: two fire fighters, a paramedic, a musical one with instruments

& a midwife where the children were able to have plenty of “hands on” experiences! Treasure Keepers

provided many hot lunches, including barbeques/picnics that were offered throughout the year & even a

Parent Appreciation Day; parents were able to enjoy a to- go snack and/or beverage that the children

participated in. Yes, it was a busy yet successful year with four fundraisers, the collection of hamper &

shoebox items for people in need during the holidays & the addition of program memo boards to

highlight activiites for parents to read on a daily basis!

The staff and management have wonderful new plans for 2016! Parents will notice some changes within

the program rooms that staff have replaced many plastic toys/ buckets for more natural solutions & the

colour schemes are more neutral. The staff are all learning about Pedagogy-learning the best way to

keep the passion to grow & explore in our environment around us. Notes have been handed out for

parents to share Hopes & Dreams for their child’s daycare experience; please write them down on the

leaves provided & then hand into staff members when completed, Thanks in advance for everyones

cooperation in regards to important parent feedback so that we may hang the leaves on branches at

each centre!

Please note important January dates: Wednesday, Jan. 13/16 – Parent Appreciation Day,

Tuesday, Jan. 12/16- Hot lunch is provided by daycare & therefore parents do not need to send a

lunch for their child on this day & Monday, Jan.18/16 please join us at the Arborgate library for the

A.G.M. These dates are marked on the newsletter calendar!
