Travel Consideration

Page 2: Travel consideration

While traveling to a city that you do not know, there are a few rules to consider

• Firstly, call and find out as much as about the city, the hotel where you are going to stay, the people that you are going to meet and the place you are likely to have your meetings

• Find out the best way from the airport to the hotel and to your meeting venues

• Check if your hotel has a shuttle bus or a meet and assist arrangement

• Choose a hotel in a safe area

• Try to get a map of the city. It will help you get your bearings

• Never arrive in a city that you do not know at night and always arrive a day before if you can. This will ensure a good night sleep and a chance to check out your surroundings

• Ensure that your luggage has your name very clearly labeled in a prominent place

• Always carry with you credit cards and some money in notes

• Always carry your money and passport with you.

• After you have checked in, it would be wise to leave your passport, extra money and important documents in the hotel safe or safe in your room.

• Hang the “Do not disturb” sign outside your door at all times-even if you are away. This will keep away anyone from your room

• Safety latch the room at night. Do not leave the windows open at night or when you are away.

• Carry the name and number of the holtel you are staying at, so that if assistance is required there are people around to help you get back where you want

• It is wise to courier papers ahead of time rather than carry them yourself, both on your way to and back.

• Get to know more about your host and his family so that you can carry gifts with you.

• If you are invited to his house, carry some flowers for the lady and some gifts for the children

• If traveling abroad, familiarize yourself with the currency

• If you are a guest in any country, you are an ambassador for your country. You must show a positive image of India

• Find out customs of the country that you are visiting so that you can follow them and not draw unnecessary attention onto yourself.

• Keep a check on your expenses. You would not want to find yourself falling short on funds

• Remember that if you have to change currency, the bank is the best place and not the hotel. Beware of touts. They can rob you
