Region Trauma Description AIS Quadrat of 3 highest score
Head and neck Cerebral contusion 3 9Face No trauma 0
Chest Flail chest 4 16Abdomen Minor contusion of of
the hepar and Rupture of the spleen
25

Extremity Fracture of femur 3 External No trauma 0
Injury severity score: 50
Weakness- IF A MISTAKE WERE MADE IN AIS SCORING,
THE LEVEL OF ERROR FOR THE ISS WILL ALSO INCREASE
- DIFFERENT FORMS OF TRAUMA COULD RESULT IN THE SAME ISS SCORE
- COMPLETE DESCRIPTION OF TRAUMA COULD NOT BE KNOWN
- THERE’S A LIMITATION IN SCORING MULTIPLE TRAUMAS IN THE SAME REGION OF THE BODY
Revised trauma score
The revised trauma score is a physiological scoring system
It is scored from the first set of data obtained on the patient, and consists of Glasgow Coma scale, Systolic Blood Pressure and Respiratory Rate
GCS is intended to measure the functional status of Central Nervous System and also as a component of trauma scoring.
GCS inherent problem is the inability to accurately calculate scores in patients who are intubated and assisted with a ventilator.
Recent research proves that RTS can predict mortality
TRISS (Trauma and Injury Severity Score)
TRISS IS A WAY TO IDENTIFY MAJOR TRAUMA PATIENTS WITH UNEXPECTED OUTCOMES AND TO COMPARE PATIENT OUTCOMES AMONG INSTITUTIONS WHILE CONTROLLING FOR DIFFERENCES IN INJURY SEVERITY.
TRISS FORMULA :PS = 1/(1 + E–B)
Ps = an estimate of a patient’s survival probability. b = bo + b1(RTS) + b2(ISS) + b3(AGE) AGE = 0 (for age < 55 years old) AGE = 1 (for age ≥ 55 years old) AGE < 15 years old, use only the values of non
penetration injuries e = 2.718282
Calculate TRISS using TRISS calculator from http://www.trauma.org
TRISS LIMITATION Less accurate Problem with ISS Problem with RTS No information about past condition
Visum Et Repertum of Injury
• Objective to find out the cause and the severity of injury
• Purpose in order for a person who causes another person got injured will be punished according to the severity experienced by victims
• Conclusion : identify type of injury, determine the type of violence, injury qualification

SUMARY Trauma scoring -> Interpretation
of the severity of a trauma in the form of number which would help doctor in rephrasing into a term which is familiar to the general public.
Outcome of the trauma Medical aspect and juridical aspect.
