Welcome to the 2014 Texas Recreation & Park society’s central Region Workshop and Maintenance Rodeo in austin, Texas. The austin Parks and Recreation Department is

proud to host this annual event, with hopes that you will go home having learned something new, met some new friends and had a great experience.

This session will provide an overview of the city of austin’s riparian restoration program, which focuses on the re-establishment of native vegetation along streams in city parks. additional components include volunteer outreach, public education, low-impact approaches to stormwater management and

integration with capital improvement projects. The presentation will identify the benefits of a riparian restoration program from both a watershed and a park management perspective.

aquatic operators are constantly plagued by challenges and obstacles that keep them from operating their facility and programs at a high level. Personnel, Facility and Financial issues were recently identified in a survey of Texas aquatic professionals as the main areas where they

struggle. This session will share the survey results, as well as develop a framework to minimize and counteract the challenges that currently face aquatic operators.
