Bordeaux Euratlantique
High-speed links,
high-quality living.
Opération of National Interest (738 ha) located in the towns of Bègles,
Bordeaux and Floirac : 2 200 000 m² of floor space, near 16 000 accommodation units, 25
000 new residents, 450 000 m² of offices (business centre), 160 000 m² of business premises, 140
000 m² of public facilities, 50 000 m² businesses and 70 000 m² of hotels, 50 ha of green areas.
The river has shaped the city ...• Historically, the city is
anchored on the left side of the river
• With a longitudinal life: ‘The other side has long been an elsewhere’
• A radial structure with few crossings
The renewal of heart agglomeration face again to the river
• M Corajoud magnified the left docks of Bordeaux: a peaceful space thanks to the tram, and invested by residents
Jacques Chaban-Delmas Vertical lift bridge
• The urban transport master scheme was planned in 1996 to complete the boulevards to the north and south
• Due to the urban development project, it became necessary to link neighborhoods of Bacalan Bastide, Belcier
⇒ two crossing projects : first priority downstream ‘Bacalan-Bastide’ (2013), then upstream ‘Jean-Jacques Bosc’ (2020)
Le port de la Lune
home port of the river cruise• 4 river cruise ships in operation for 3 companies (Croisieurope, Uniworld and Viking River Cruises)
• Bordeaux, home port of the fleet, with two dedicated docks (Albert Londres et La Fayette)
• 5 stops on the rivers and the estuary of the Gironde
• More than 20 000 passengers for cruises of seven days on average
• Nearly 200 000 overnight stays on board ships and in hotels in pre or post
cruises
• Between 10 and 12 million € in economic benefits for the territory
vector of development and beautification (ground power supply)
3 tramway lines (60 km) + 79 bus lines & 18 P+R 133,3 M passengers in 2015
Number of users increased by +35%
over more than 5 years
outcomes: Urban multimodal transport network: 5 tramway lines
(nearby 80 km by 2020).9
A structured public transport network around the tram
Logistics Development Strategy
A multimodal mobility
Designed around several tramway lines andrestructured bus lines
With a new operating mode for the tramnetwork (intermediate terminus): increasedrush hour frequency every 3’30”
Complemented by several parts of the chain ofmobility : Vcub (bicycle), Batcub (river shuttle),Bluecub (electric car sharing) + Koolicar + Citiz
A new real-time operation support system andpassenger information
11
The strengths of the transport and mobility policy
• An increase in attendance on the TBM network (+5% with respect to 2014 12 million passengers per month)
• 45 km of bus lanes created and 4 certified high frequency bus line
• A decrease in the modal share of the car between 1999 and 2009 by 5 points
• 1600 VCub, 166 stations, (800 parking)
Action plan to foster a smooth development
Equipment Aid for Electrical charging terminals, in order to reduce the transition costs of corporate fleets
Mesh of a fast charging network terminals
Further developments of Bluecub services
Electric tram and mixed bus fleet (398 buses) = 71% of the bus fleet running on NGV, 20 % on diesel fuel 29 hybrid buses, 5 electric minibus 2 hybrid river shuttles
Partnership action plan in favor of electric bikes :
adaptation of the cycling network of 700 km (REVE network)
dissemination of electric bikes in corporate fleets
Financial assistance scheme for purchase
Aid for the purchase, rental or loan and Promotion
The exemplary approach of public authority
historical electric fleet since 1981 (88 electric cars, 13 small city cars, 4 scooters, 11 electric bikes)
8 fast charging stations deployed
Electric mobility
• existing charging infrastructure for electric vehicles open to the public : near 120 stations including Bluecub (a total of 400 stations)
• 1500 electric or hybrid vehicles in circulation
‘BatCub’ services
• 2 river shuttles, 2 regular lines usable with a normal ticket
• 243 000 passengers in 2015 (+30%/2014)
• aluminum catamaran hull
• hybrid (diesel + electric)
‘Bluecub’ services (Bolloré)
• 200 vehicles
• 80 stations
• 8 subscription spaces
Even more important issues for the future
• Between 1999 and 2009: + 8% of population and 11% of trips (2.5 million trips in 2009) By 2019, +270 000 trips / day to ensure
• Climate Plan (2011) :
«Reduce the modal share of the car
in favor of other modes »
A comprehensive strategy of mobility for Bordeaux metropolis
• Main axis : Implement an operational masterplan on metropolitan trips, based on mobility policy of Bordeaux Metropolis
• Axis 1 : Enhance the public transport networks efficiency• Axis 2 : Develop an ambitious policy of optimizing the use of cars
– Overall traffic plan– Promote the practice of carpooling and large scale car sharing– Develop the use of electric mobility and other carbon-free engine
• Axis 3 : Establish a consistent parking policy in connection withmunicipalities
• Axis 4 : Exploit the full potential of alternative modes– Refresh the cycling plan and implement a pedestrian action plan
• Axis 5 : Facilitating the use of transport services by all citizens– Structure the digital mobility policy
operational masterplan on metropolitan trips
2 levers : - Improve and ensure the sustainability of the current offer :
commercial speed and frequency of main lines
- Achieve a structural mesh network to serve ans adapt to territories
improve radial links and create circular Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)
Operational studies launched :‐ Tram service from the airport, with extension of line A from Merignac and
establishment of a shuttle from the airport to the ‘Pessac Alouette’ railway station
‐ Tram link between Gradignan and Bordeaux,
‐ BRT Service : Bordeaux centre - Caudéran – Le Haillan - Saint-Médard-en-Jalles -Saint-Aubin-de-Médoc,
‐ Transport link between Bordeaux Cracovie and Cenon Pont Rouge.

6 plans coordonnés des autorités
publiques

Optimisation of existing road networks
GERTRUDE : a swiss army knife for managing and regulating traffic at stoplights
610 intersections are managed by the centralised and adaptative system (9000 magnetic loops)
Absolute priority to tramways, buses and merging into traffic
The lastest innovations :
A multimodal dashboard
Use of « Floating Car Data » for regulation
Priority for emergency vehicles to cross intersections via smartphone and geolocation
ALIENOR : ring-road operating support system
The Alienor 2 project: real-time traffic information and regulation (access control, speed modulation), includingpenetrating roads connected to the ring-road and promoting public transport services and carpooling.
Real-time traffic information
