HOW HAIRTRANSPLANTATION WORKS

There is a series of steps that ought to be followed when patients undergo surgical hair transplantation treatments, regardless of the nature of the treatment used in hair transplant surgery.

Injecting local anestheticThe third and last step before actually starting the operation is the anesthetic process, as patients who are undergoing any surgical procedure must be administrated to local Anastasia.The Anastasia used in hair transplant operations is local, doctors inject the anesthetic into the patient’s donor areas where hair follicles are going to be extracted, and it’s also injected in the patient’s recipient area where those follicles are going to be implanted.

Extracting graftsThe density of the patient’s donor area in the head determines where the follicles are going to be harvested. The extraction will be done by a device called Micro Motor device, which has a puncher head that helps to free hairs from their roots and thus be easily harvested. This device is used for all used techniques in hair transplant.

The number of follicles extracted depends on two main things (the bald areas to be covered in the patient’s head and the number of hair to be implanted in the patient’s recipient area.

The process lasts between (1) to (3) hours based on the hair number meant to be extracted; as after hair extraction, they’re immediately preserved in a petri dish that contains either Saline or Hypothermosol solution.

Separating folliclesThe next step is considered as the main step as it includes separating the hair follicles units, which is part of the process of separating the hair grafts. This process depends on hair type, single, dual, triple, quad, and quinary, which each hair follicular contains.The number of hairs a graft contains plays a role in where it’s going to be implanted; grafts with 1 or 2 follicles usually get implanted in the hairline to help reach an authentic look, while grafts that contain 3 or more hairs are used for the back and middle regions of the scalp.

OPENING IMPLAN-TATION CHANNELS

IMPLANTING FOLLICULAR UNITS

In the stage of the process, your surgeon will create several punctures in your scalp to work as channels for the hair to be implanted using a micro-sized scalpel.

Though, in the DHI technique, Choi Pens, it differs, as your surgeon will use a device pen- shaped to combine creating the channels and implanting the hairs in one step.

The process of opening the implantation channels usually takes around (1 to 3) hours, depending on the method as well as the number of the channels required.

Reaching the last step, after the surgeons have finished making channels for the implantation, your medical crew will start inserting the harvested hair follicles carefully, which differ according to the technique used.

PER & POSTINSTRUCTIONSFOR HAIRTRANSPLANT

Avoid using any blood thinners as well as any anti-inflammatory medicines at least two nights before the surgery.

Refrain from endorsing any supplements like vitamins at least two weeks before the surgery date.

Alcohol and smoking are very likely to have bad effects on the healing process. Therefore, it’s strongly advised to stop any consumption of them at least a week before the surgery.

INSTRUCTIONS TO TAKE ON THE DAY OF THESURGERY

1. You shall apply medical lotion on your scalp and the implanted areas. You should distribute the lotion on the scalp gently with your fingertips, and then leave the lotion for at least 40 minutes.

2. Afterward, wash your scalp with a light lukewarm water flow to remove the lotion.

3. Now, apply the medical shampoo on your scalp and leave it for five minutes until the scalp fully absorbs the shampoo.

4. You will dry your hair using soft tissue like cotton. You must avoid heavy and coarse towels as much as possible.

5. As washing is done, you can apply medical cream to stimulate blood circulation and reduce scalp dryness.

HAIR WASHING PROCESS AFTER HAIR TRANSPLANTNow, you have done a hair transplant; thus, after 72 hours, you need to go to the medical center for the first hair washing after a hair transplant procedure. Furthermore, you shall be aware and keep in mind the method explained by the hair transplant expert while washing your hair. Here, we’re going to list the stages of hair washing;

1. You must never take off your headband before 48 hours, to prevent facial swelling.

2. You also should not bend over and keep your head up as much as possible for at least three days to avert swelling around your eyes.

3. ou must sleep on a couple of pillows to keep your head elevated to prevent swelling.

4. You are not allowed to wash your hair for 72 hours after the hair transplant procedure.

5. You should adhere to the instructions of hair washing.

6. You should refrain from doing sports or weight lifting for 15 days Such a hard activity might lead to losing the new follicles and bleeding.

7. Another forbidden order is to avoid exposure to direct sunlight, heat, and humidity at least for a month, as sunlight contains UV rays that might

damage your new hair follicles. Accordingly, you should wear a medical hat once you are going out.

8. You must keep away from rain and dust to stay away from damaging your new hair follicles.9. You should pay attention while wearing and taking off your clothes to avoid touching or hurting your scalp.

10. Swimming is forbidden, whether in the sea for three months or a swimming pool for two months. Owing to the swimming pool contains harmful chemicals that might damage your new hair follicles.

11. Refrain from intercourse for a week after planting.

12. Avoid smoking, for at least two months after the implantation, because it affects the arrival of the required ratio of oxygen to implanted hair follicles, which hinders its growth, leading to its fall.

13. You should adhere to taking the medications that dictated by your doctor. Those medications are helping to accelerant the blood clot process to promote the growth of the new follicles.

14. You must keep using the medical shampoo for hair washing and avoid the chemical shampoo.

15. Don’t try a Turkish bath or sauna for at least a month.

16. It’s preferable to utilize platelet-rich plasma “PRP” to boost the implanted follicles for accelerant growth.
