What is the CLEP® Spanish Language examination?The CLEP® Spanish Language exam measures your
ability to understand written and spoken Spanish.
The exam, administered on computer, is approximately
90 minutes long and is comprised of two listening
sections and one reading section. The questions require
you to demonstrate your knowledge of vocabulary
and grammar, as well as your ability to comprehend
written and spoken Spanish. The exam is scored on
a scale of 20–80.

How to earn college credit through CLEP
Step one: Visit www.collegeboard.com/clep to learn
more about the exam.
Step two: Find out your college’s CLEP policy by contacting your admissions office, test center or academic adviser.
Step three: Register to take your exam by contacting a CLEP test center and making an appointment.
Step four: Take your CLEP test!
Save with CLEPThe cost of a CLEP exam is $72, a fraction of the tuition
and fees for the corresponding course. The test center
may charge you an administration fee of approximately
$15 in addition to the $72 exam fee.
Prepare to succeed with CLEP SpanishFamiliarize yourself thoroughly with the contents of at
least one Spanish textbook used in courses during the
first two years of college Spanish. In addition to studying
basic vocabulary, you should understand and be able
to apply the grammatical principles that make up
the language.
To improve your reading comprehension, read passages
from textbooks, short magazine and newspaper articles,
and other printed or online material.
To improve your listening comprehension, seek
opportunities to hear the language spoken by native
speakers and to converse with native speakers: join
organizations with Spanish-speaking members, listen
to Spanish-language radio and television broadcasts,
and attend Spanish movies.

description provided in the CLEP Official Study Guide.
The Study Guide is available from the CLEP Web site or
in bookstores. Download the free CLEP Sampler tutorial
from the CLEP Web site to familiarize yourself with the
computer format.

Prepárate para tener éxito en el CLEP de españolFamiliarízate a fondo con el contenido de por lo menos
un libro de texto que se utilice durante los primeros dos
años de español universitario. Además de estudiar el
vocabulario básico, debes entender y saber aplicar los
principios gramaticales que rigen la estructura del idioma.
Para mejorar la lectocomprensión, lee fragmentos de
libros de texto, artículos cortos de revistas, periódicos y
demás material, ya sea impreso o por Internet.
Para mejorar la compresión auditiva, busca oportunidades
de escuchar el lenguaje hablado y de conversar con
gente que ya domina el idioma. Participa en organizaciones
con miembros hispanohablantes, escucha programas de
radio y televisión en español, o ve películas en español.

¿Qué es el examen CLEP® de español?El examen CLEP® de español evalúa tu capacidad de
comprender el español escrito y hablado. El examen, que
se imparte por computadora, dura aproximadamente 90
minutos y está compuesto de dos secciones de audición y
una de lectura. Las preguntas requieren que demuestres
tus conocimientos de vocabulario y gramática, así
como tu capacidad de comprender el español escrito
y hablado. El puntaje del examen se computa en
una escala del 20 al 80.
