MOTIVATION
An alternative solution to the intermodal transfer facilities (buildings, dedicated platforms at different
levels, etc).
PRINCIPLES
A public transport system, based on Light Rail Vehicles and rail/tram infrastructure, able to
operate continously both outside and inside the town without passengers‘ transfer.
CONTRAINTS
Appliable only in connection with local/regional rail networs, without high speed traffic
(up to 160 Km/h) and
ATO (Automatic Train Operation).
TECHNICAL CONDITIONS
1. ROLLING STOCK
- Bi-system (25KVac / 750 Vdc) or bi-modale (hybride Diesel electric/electric 750 Vdc) traction chain.
- Weel profile - a compromise between the rail well and the tram weel.
- Stronger braking features, to compensate a lower crash enduring of the body.
- Special devices to cover the gap between the narrow wagons and the railway platforms.

TECHNICAL CONDITIONS
2. INFRASTRUCTURE
- No particular conditions for infrastructure, each network will keep its own features.
- A short neutral zone between two types of the overhead centenary.

An infrastructure alternative to compensate the gap between the LRV wagons
and the platforms in the common rail stations.
OPEREATING
CONDITIONS
- On each network, conforming to the specific rules - railway and urban traffic.
- Keeping or not the drivers.
