expressed enthusiasm over conducting the said training program. The farmers were very happy to know about

the entrepreneurial opportunities available in Ripening Chambers

Introduced the Organizers to the participants and explained the importance of the naturally ripened fruits. He

inspired the participants to follow the details of the course and encourage them to actively interact to

understand the course better. He had a positive outlook towards organizing skill development courses and was

of the view that such trainings are necessary for the youth of the nation.

He opined that the farmers who undergo this training program would be able to handle the ripening chambers

in a more scientific and systematic way. Moreover they themselves can successfully become potential

entrepreneurs by talking up ripening chambers as agriculture allied activity.

The farmers were very encouraged to know about the financial assistance and the impetus available from the

Government to build the interest in the Agriculture sector of the country. They applauded the efforts of NCCD

for organizing such trainings all across the country.

The participants expressed happiness about the training program and found it very useful. They felt that the

information given by experts and faculty was a great learning experience.

They were very happy to visit M/s. Shreenath Ji Fruit Industry as they got the chance to see the ripening process

live and get an hands on experience. It was a great learning experience for them when the staff of M/s. Shreenath

Ji Fruit Industry explained to them the entire procedures followed at M/s. Shreenath Ji Fruit Industry. The

officials showed them around the whole unit of M/s. Shreenath Ji Fruit Industry showing them the Sorting,

grading lines, machinery and controls, ripening chambers. The trainees found that the entire information shared

very informative and useful.

The training program is a practical on the job experience and helpful in understanding the operations of ripening

chamber and how the Government is actively involved in support of the cause. The efforts made by NCCD in

organizing the program for Kishan Rakshak Evam Kalyan Sangh, Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh, were appreciated

by all.

They thanked M/s. Shreenath Ji Fruit Industry for opening their doors to the participants, which was an

excellent learning experience for the participants as they wanted the training to have a mention about the

Entrepreneur Development and Training for Ripening Chambers.

As per the agenda of the honorable Prime Minister, Agriculture is the driving force of the Indian economy.

Government is laying special emphasis on the development of Agriculture and Horticulture sector and

encouraging the citizens to come up with projects and business to support this sector. National Centre for Cold

Chain development has introduced the two day training program on “Entrepreneur Development and Skill

Training for Ripening Chambers.” This training program is being carried out by National Centre for cold chain

development (NCCD) in the Kishan Rakshak Evam Kalyan Sangh, Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh on 04-05

January, 2016.

The training programme was inaugurated by Mr. Gulchand Singh Barne, Honorable District President, Kishan

Rakshak Evam Kalyan Sangh, Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh. Welcome address was delivered by Mr. Kailash

Pathak, Honorable Divisional President, Kishan Rakshak Evam Kalyan Sangh, Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh.

Training was imparted through different lectures about fruit ripening.

The training was offered to 35 potential banana growers and traders selected by Kishan Rakshak Evam Kalyan

Sangh, Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh. The trainees and entrepreneurs have been educated on the scientific

procedures and best practices of fruit ripening, hazard of calcium carbide as the ripening agent and financial

viability of setting up the fruit ripening chamber and MIDH guidelines and financial assistance. On 06th January,

the trainees visited the Banana Ripening at Shrinath Ji Fruit Ripening, Khandwa Road, Burhanpur, MP

PREPARATION FOR THE SESSIONS:

After receiving the approvals for conducting trainings from National Centre for Cold Chain Development

(NCCD), we contacted Kishan Rakshak Evam Kalyan Sangh, Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh and owners of fruit

ripening chamber, the response was overwhelming.

The existing ripening units in Burhanpur were enthusiastic to open their doors for the field visit and were also

happy to share their entrepreneurial journey with the trainees. Mr. Sunil Bolatkar, Manager of the ripening units

Co-ordinate effectively with the organizers to ensure participation by all concerned in the industry.

The related companies, agriculture universities and bank representatives were contacted for the lectures to be

given during the training. They were extremely enthusiastic and to be part of the training.

AGENDA: GENERATION OF EMPLOYMENT AND ENTERPRENURIAL

OPPORTUNITIES

The objective of the program was to:

Create awareness about the entrepreneurial opportunities available in Ripening Chambers

Develop Skill for ripening Chambers

Train Human resources in banana ripening technology

Educate the trainees about the harmful effects of Carbide ripened fruits

Educate the trainees in real time conditions to give them hands o experience

Promotion of standards, scientific procedures and best practices in banana ripening.

Assist in providing employment opportunities to the trained candidates through our existing network of

promoters of banana ripening chambers.

Educate the potential entrepreneurs about

o The financial viability of setting up a Banana ripening chamber.

o The Technical standards on Banana Ripening established by Ministry of Agriculture.

o New MIDH guidelines and financial assistance available

o Financial assistance available from Indian Banks

Provide feedback concerning future training needs, and participate in the design of annual training

activities.

The prospective employers i.e.: ripening chamber owners allowed practical trainings in their facility and actively

participated with the trainees, and clears the doubts of trainees during the practical session. The participants were

banana growers and agricultural graduates who were made aware about the benefits of entering the field of

agriculture.

They have been registered in our database and will be in touch for the preparation of DPRs etc.

Actual employment generated will be monitored and reported to the NCCD
