PORT- THE CONNECTION TO THE SERVER OR PC. ON SATEON PRO THIS IS ALWAYS IPFIELD NETWORK-A GROUP OF CONTROLLERS CONNECTED TO PORT USUALLY ON 485LINE HEADER- AN ETHERNET/485 CONVERTER UNIT THAT ALLOWS A LINE OF 485 CONTROLLERS TO BE CONNECTED TO A PCENCLOSURE- A POWER SUPPLY UNIT THAT ALLOWS UP TO TWO CONTROLLERS OR ONE CONTROLLER AND ONE IP BOARD TO BE MOUNTED IN IT.

Terminology

• Cable Types• Data Comms• 485 Data Comms• Ethernet Data Comms• Sateon Pro Controllers

– 485– Ethernet

• Sateon Pro Enclosures

System Setup Part 1 - Hardware

Line Header to Panel (Comms Converter) 2 Pair Belden (or equivalent) #8723 1200m

per Segment Cat 5 – Use Twists – Not for electrically noisy environments – 200m

Panel to Reader See Reader Documentation 50m (if using Keypad Interface)

External Inputs 2 Core Cable (Alarm) 100m

Locks Use suitable gauge cable for current draw and volt drop

Current Draw (Amps) x Distance (Meters) x Wire Resistance per Meter (Ohms) = Voltage Drop (Volts)

485 Panels

RS-485 Two wire (plus Ground) – 1 Pair

10 Panels on a line maximum Max 1200m No T taps / loops Each pair should be twisted All controllers will need an

Ethernet Line Header

Sateon Pro 485

Sateon Pro Line Header

• Can be mounted in standard Enclosure

Ethernet Line Header

PORT connects a SATEON Comms Engine to PanelsSEGMENT - 1,200m length of Belden (2 or 4 wire) Field Network - Cable from LINE HEADER to last Panel

10 Panels - address range 1 to 63

485 Panels are Polled

1 2 3 4 10 Addresses do NOT have to be sequential…..

Data Line Overview

Ethernet Panels

Each IP Panel has it’s own IP address and connects directly to the network via a RJ45 Plug

Panels are Polled and will immediately Synchronise with SATEON

PRO 485 (Card Access)

Present CardPanel decides to unlock the door (or not)Waits for next Poll from SATEON PROTells SATEON PRO about the card and access was allowed

PRO ETHERNET (Card Access)

Present CardPanel decides to unlock the door (or not)Tells SATEON about the card and access was allowed

• IP Panel or Line Header.• When supplied are DHCP.• Will assign an address in 169.254.?.? Range if no DHCP available.• Use the eSeriesDeviceProgrammer tool to set the IP address.• Encrypted devices will not come on line until ‘seeded’ using the

eSeriesDeviceProgrammer tool with access to a valid SATEON licence.• eSeriesDeviceProgrammer will find devices in the same subnet and allow

you to program them.• eSeriesDeviceProgrammer can be run from (and set the encryption of an

Ethernet device) from any SATEON client machine (Config required)

Time schedules are used to define the periods during which things can happen within the SATEON access control system. For example;

When access is permitted at certain doors When events are reported When actions can occur.

A time schedule is set up as a combination of time patterns, where each time pattern defines one or more periods of time. Each individual period of time with a defined start and end time is an appointment. Appointments can consist of an entire day.
