• Training Methods adopted for Staff Training

• Type of Training wanted by the Staff

• Total 65 permanent professional staff up to Assistant Librarian level in 10 university libraries in Mumbai were surveyed.

• 80% of the staff had M.L.I.Sc. though it was not a requirement

• 50% staff had more than 15 years of experience

• Reference Service, Circulation Work, Acquisition and Technical Work were four major areas where staff were working

Conclusion

• Gap between Staff Training Provided and Type of Training Required by the Staff

• Staff should be Motivated to Attend Training Programme

• 60% Staff found Improvement in their Performance after Training

• 40% Staff wanted either one full weekday or on Saturday whereas 55% preferred 2-3 consecutive full days

• ICT Management in Libraries and Self Development Training were most Preferred Training

• All staff should get opportunity to attend Training Programmes

• Workshops, Seminars, Conferences, Demonstrations, Class Lectures, Video Presentations, Demonstrations were Some of the Popular Training Methods used
