Facts about the PSAT Pre-administration: 45-50 min Reading Test: 60 min 5 Minute Break Writing & Language: 35 min Math Test – No Calculator: 25 min 5 Minute Beak Math Test – Calculator: 45 min Collecting Materials and dismissing students: 5 min Lunch- students will be dismissed for 2nd lunch

TOTAL TIME ~ Approximately 3 ½ hours

Roles and Responsibilities Associate Supervisor(s) are accountable for everyone in the testing

room and everything that takes place in that room. This includes making seating charts, distributing booklets, accounting for them, and collecting and counting booklets and answer documents before dismissing students.

Administering the test according to the manual’s directions and script.

Return test materials to the Test Center Supervisors (Angie) after students are dismissed.

Each room requires one Associate Supervisor.

**CANNOT CHECK PAPERS, USE CELL PHONE/LAPTOP, etc.**

Additional Support for Test Supervisors Proctor(s) and Hall Monitors (Mike and Mary Jo) are

responsible for assisting the Test Center and Associate Supervisors.

Gives Associate Supervisor break if necessary. Locate Test Coordinator (Angie) if issues arise.

Proctors do not administer the test, but they do help set up the testing area and monitor testing. Hall Monitors patrol the hallways during testing to make sure the testing area remains quiet and secure.

Test Security Safeguard test books at all times – Before,

During, and After the test and during breaks. Test Center Supervisor (Angie) distributes

books and answer sheets to Associate Supervisors the day of Exam (Oct. 14th)

Associate Supervisor distributes answer sheets and booklets to students and collects them at end of testing.

If a test book is found to be missing notify Angie, Mike, or Mary Jo immediately.

Seating Students How to complete Seating Chart:

Do not let students choose their own seats Optional to do in advance, should be in pencil Seating charts must turned in with test materials

Start Time: Every room should begin by 7:45 a.m. How to handle Late Arrivals: (Page 16)

Students who arrive late may only join if the timed test has not begun. Do not admit students to any room where Section 1 (or any later section) has already begun. If a student arrives late, please notify supervisor/hall monitor (Mike & Mary Jo)

Late students who arrive prior to Section 1, but after Pre-Administration has started, the student may supply missing information after the test before students are dismissed.

Pre-Administration Follow Script: Begins @ the bottom of

Page 16 of Test Supervisor Manual. Lasts about 45 min Can be done after test is complete with

What if…. Student needs to use the restroom:

Collect test book and answer sheet, return to student when they reenter. No more than 1 student at a time.

An irregularity occurs? Notify hall monitors/proctors asap, and then

refer to the Irregularity Chart in pg. 11-15 in Manual

Disturbance (Noise/Misbehaving) Cheating Misplaced Answers Student becomes ill

Breaks All breaks are for stretching and limited

bathroom use. Students must remain in the room so they

don’t disrupt other testing rooms. If students have snacks or drinks, they must

consume them in the back of the room away from the testing materials.

Rule of thumb, one person at a time for bathroom use. Take test booklet when they leave.
