The Notebook Trailer

What I like most about the trailer, in terms of mise-en-scene:

What I like most about this trailer is how the characters’ class’ are clearly portrayed through their costume and makeup. For example, it is easy to identify that Noah is from a working class background due to his dirty clothes, messy hair and how he seems to wear a ‘baker boy’ style hat. In comparison to Allie, who is clearly from a higher class background due to her ‘posh looking’ frocks, lots of makeup and neat, fancy hair-do’s. Props which are used to portray Noah’s class is an old-fashioned, worn out truck, whereas Allie’s family own an expensive, modern car which clearly show a difference in class. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3G3fILPQAU

Remember Me Trailer

What I like the most about the mise-en-scene used in this trailer is Tyler’s style of costume, he is consistently wearing scruffy clothing, his makeup is made to make him look like somebody who gets into a lot of trouble, for example, his scars and ‘fat lip’. He portrays his character through the use of mise-en-scene and allows the audience to identify what type of character he is. In comparison to his girlfriend who is portrayed as quite ‘prim and proper’ due to her neat hairstyles, natural makeup and how well-dressed she is. Their characters are clearly portrayed through mise-en-scene, as with the Notebook.

The Last Song Trailer

What I like most about this trailer in terms of mise-en-scene is how Ronnie is portrayed as a stereotypical teenager through the style of her hair, makeup and clothing. Her younger brother is portrayed as a stereotypical young boy through the use of props, such as his bike and the toys he plays with. I also like the location the film is set in, and what is shown of it in the trailer (by the beach) as the film is a romantic/sad film, the audience will associate the beach with happiness, hence Ronnie and her boyfriend’s love story, however the end of the film is about Ronnie’s Father’s death, as romantic films are quite predictable and will tend to finish with a happy ending, however this film does not.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwLmQqRanvM
