The Auto Club is committed to protecting our youngest population by promoting laws that improve their safety, sponsoring programs in schools that benefit thousands of students each year, improving education and safety for teen drivers, assisting mature drivers in meeting new mobility challenges, preventing and deterring impaired driving and serving our local communities through effective traffic safety education programs.

In addition to offering a variety of programs, the Auto Club provides resources in the following areas: alcohol awareness, bicycle safety, child passenger safety, driver education, pedestrian safety, school bus safety, and senior mobility and wellness. Our programs and materials are available to schools, community organizations and law enforcement FREE of charge. Quantities may, however, be limited based on availability.

Auto Club Driving School Our instructors use AAA’s research-based “Licensed to Learn” curriculum and offer programs that meet the Graduated Driver License requirements. Dare to PrepareThe Auto Club helps prepare both parents and teens for this exciting yet risky time as teens begin to drive. Dare to Prepare is a free, interactive program

targeting teens 14–15 years old and their parents. The workshop walks attendees through

state Graduated Driver Licensing components, state requirements for obtaining an instructional permit and driver license, parent and teen roles and responsibilities, and what to look for in a driving school. To find a workshop near you, visit AAA.com/safety4teens or call (714) 885-2312.

Teen Driving Safety EventsThe Auto Club conducts and participates in community events that promote teen driver safety. Events are free to the community and feature interactive activities, demonstrations, and education and resources designed to help keep a young driver safe behind the wheel. Teendriving.AAA.com A website for both parents and teens, Teendriving.AAA.com provides parents and teens the needed resources and tools to help them navigate the learning to drive process. The website includes interactive activities for teens, information on California’s Graduated Driver License Law, and outlines both parents’ and teens’ roles and responsibilities during the learning to drive process.

InGearTM

InGearTM is an interactive online program that helps increase a teen’s attention and response time skills. The program is free for insureds through the Auto Club with teen drivers age 15-19. For information visit AAA.com/teens.

Educational BrochuresThe Auto Club has a variety of educational brochures addressing topics such as the Graduated Driver License Law, Distracted Driving, Dowsy Driving, Parent-Teen Driving Agreement, Freeway Driving Skills and other driver education materials. Child Passenger Safety and School Safety

Child Passenger Safety Education Classes This 90-minute workshop targets parents and caregivers of children up to 8 years of age. The workshop focuses on California’s occupant protection laws, how to choose the proper car seat, car seat installation basics, and provides a list of local agencies that conduct car seat inspections. School’s Open-Drive Carefully CampaignThe increased volume of pedestrian traffic during the school year is the driving force behind the

School’s Open-Drive Carefully campaign. Materials are designed to be distributed as schools come into session to remind parents, caregivers

and students that school traffic will be increasing, so drivers and pedestrians need to increase awareness and be cautious in and around school zones. Campaign materials include posters, bumper stickers, Halloween bookmarks and related traffic safety educational materials in English and Spanish. Educational BrochuresThe Auto Club has educational brochures addressing topics on both child passenger safety and pedestrian safety. Brochure topics include a 5-step test on when to move your child from a booster seat into a seat belt, a comprehensive guide to car safety seats, an overview of pedestrian laws, a guide for safest routes to school, safe walking tips, and a teacher’s guide to safest routes to school. Older Driver Mobility and WellnessSENIORDRIVING.AAA.COM This website provides families of older drivers with valuable information and tools to help extend safe driving, and assist in difficult decisions about transitioning away from driving. Visitors will find educational brochures, driver improvement courses and audits, tips on choosing a safe vehicle, skill assessments and community resources.

RoadwiseRx.com RoadwiseRx takes the guesswork out of questions surrounding medication interaction, as well as a medication’s effect on one’s ability to drive. The free confidential tool allows all current medications to be entered, and provides information about possible side effects and interactions that may be relevant to safe vehicle operation.

CarFit™ CarFit™ is an educational program that offers older drivers the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicles “fit” them. CarFit™ is based on a

12-point checklist and provides one-on-one interaction with trained technicians. The goal of the program is to help drivers improve safety and comfort, provide community resources,

Online Mature Driver Improvement CourseThe mature driver course is an online DMV approved course. Drivers 55 and older who complete the online course receive a DMV certificate that can qualify them for an auto insurance discount. For more information, visit AAA.com/DefensiveDriving.

Adult Driver Training & AssessmentsMature Driver Skills Audit is a behind the wheel audit designed to help mature drivers identify changes in their driving skills and habits. Roadwise Review™ is a free easy-to-use interactive online program for older drivers. The program allows users to identify visual, cognitive and physical conditions that affect their driving.
