Rules of the International Piano competition 2015

FESTIVAL « JEUNES TALENTS »

1. The 18th International Piano Competition « Jeunes Talents » is open to piano players of all nationalities.

2. The total prize for the International Piano Competition 2014 is: 8,500 € and 2 recitals.

3. Registration for the International Piano Competition will be closed on 19th January 2015.

4. Organization of the competition:

Prizes: 1 st Prize: 300 € - 2nd Prize: 200 € 3rd Prize: 100 €

One single round: Open Programme (12 to 14 minutes at the most) which must include at least 2 pieces of different nature.

(Level corresponding to students and laureates of regional Conservatoires)

Prizes: 1 st Prize: 500 € - 2nd Prize: 400 € 3rd Prize: 300 € - 4th Prize: 200 €

Open Programme (16 to 18 minutes at the most) which must include at least 2 or 3 pieces of different nature.

(Level corresponding to students of National Conservatoires of Music or equivalent institutions)

Prizes: 1 st Prize: 3.000 € - 2nd Prize: 1.500 € 3rd Prize: 1.000 € - 4th Prize: 500 € Audience Prize: 500 €

The laureate will be offered two concert proposals.

1st round: Open Programme (16 to 18 minutes at the most) which must include at least 3 pieces of different nature.

Final: Open programme different from the 1st round. 20 minutes at the most.

� Junior Candidates (under 19) will play a single round. Candidates must be born after 1st January 1996 to be able to compete in that category. The music programme is open and mustn’t exceed 12 to 14 minutes. We’ll give day for competition after deadline registration.

� Candidates in category Grand Prix « Jeunes Talents » (under 26) will play a single round. Candidates must be born after 1st January 1989 to be able to compete in that category. The music programme is open and mustn’t exceed 14 to 16 minutes. Candidates will be auditioned on Friday 3th

April 2015. � Candidates in category Grand Prix International Concert « Jeunes Talents » (under 33) will

play two rounds. Candidates must be born after 1st January 1982 to be able to compete in that category. Regarding the 1st round, the music programme is open and mustn’t exceed 16 to 18 minutes. Candidates will be auditioned on Saturday 4th April 2015 during the day and in the evening and on Sunday 5th April 2015 during the day. The final will take place on Sunday 5th

April 2015 in the evening. Candidates selected for the final will perform an open 20 minutes-long programme different from the one performed during the 1st round.

5. During the final of the Grand Prix International Co ncert 2015, regardless of the judges decisions, each spectator will be able to vote for his / her favorite candidate and the winner will be awarded with the “Audience Prize’ amounting to 500 €.

6. Candidates will be auditioned and ranked according to the different categories: Junior « Jeunes Talents » (under 19) / Grand Prix « Jeunes Talents » (under 26) / Grand Prix International Concert « Jeunes Talents » (under 33).

7. Laureates with a 1st prize in a previous event cannot compete in the same category.

8. Free accommodation can be provided for foreign candidates. The organizer of the competition offers free accommodation in a host family (subject to availability of rooms). Free accommodation can only be booked for the candidates. People travelling with the candidates must book their own accommodation. Free accommodation must be requested at time of registration (at the bottom of the registration form, choose yes or no).

9. The events are open to the public and entrance is free.

10. Judges will include concert musicians, professors of conservatoires, national and international competition judges, musicologists, etc.

11. The registration fee is 75 €, and must be paid on returning the registration form by:

The registration fee will under no circumstances be refunded.

12. To be accepted, the registration file must include the following items: - The fully filled-in registration form - The musical programme selected by the candidate (regarding category Grand Prix International

Concert, please give the 1st round programme and the final programme). Possibility to modify musical program until February 14, 2015.

- The payment of the registration fee amounting 75 € paid by cheque, money order or international bank transfer.

- A photocopy of the candidate’s ID card or passport.

13. Candidates will receive a confirmation e-mail upon successful registration. A formal email will be sent to confirm day and time for the event, one month before the competition. The order in which individuals will play is decided by a draw.

14. Candidates agree to follow the event rules and respect the organization schedule.

15. Judges decisions are final and there are no appeals. They have the right to withdraw some of the prizes. On their initiative, the judges will be able to modify the prizes or add special prizes.

16. In the case of a dispute, then this case will come within the jurisdiction of the courts of the Loire department (French territorial division).

17. Candidates will play their pieces on a grand piano « Steinway & Sons ». Two venues will be provided for practice.

18. Candidates must send the event administrators of International Piano Competition the 2 copies of the score sheets used for the event.

19. Image rights: candidates (or their parents for under 18s) allow, with no prior authorization, the broadcast of videos or photos (on TV, on the internet, etc.), press articles, brochures about the festival « Jeunes Talents », publishing on websites, recording and broadcasting of all or part of the candidate’s performance during the International Piano Competition of Montrond les Bains.

All the audio and video recordings belong to the International Piano Competition of Montrond les Bains.

20. Timing for the results and the prize-giving ceremony for each category of the International Piano Competition will be specified on the official registration confirmation letter.

21. The winner at the International Piano Competition 2015 will be requested to participate in a short concert, the “Winner’s concert”, which will be held prior to the award ceremony for the Regional Event on Monday 6th April 2015 at about 5.00 p.m.
