Between Us ... The construction is at full speed; the Legacy

campaign is approaching $9 million; we have turned the clocks ahead and are enjoying better weather - and the Temple program continues as we learn Torah, celebrate Jewish life, and challenge each other to build a world that will be better every day.

Soon you will all receive invitations to join us at the Temple on May 20 as we welcome everyone back to our congregation's historic building with all of its changes. The construction isn't finished yet, nothing is on the walls, signs haven't been ordered, and furnishings are still to come. It has been over a year since the demolition and construction began. Our sanctuary was cut in half and we worshipped before a temporary wall and large plastic sheets. It's time to move forward into the future, to begin our tomorrow. So come and join us. Let's celebrate what has already been built and begin to enjoy it In fact, let's begin a year of celebration, after which we will rededicate our beautiful building and love coming here, learning here, and growing here for many years to come.

And speaking of tomorrow, I am pleased to report to you that the work of our Assistant Rabbi Search Committee is now complete. After receiving many resumes and interviewing some truly wonderful candidates, our Committee has chosen Rabbi Daniel Fellman (please look inside the Bulletin for more on Rabbi Fellman) to be our next Assistant Rabbi. Rabbi Fellman will be receiving his ordination this June from the Hebrew Union College -Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati and will be joining the Temple family beginning July 1. Rabbi Fellman is the unanimous choice of our search committee and I know that everyone in the Temple will enjoy meeting him, will welcome him and his wife Melissa with open arms. We look forward to his being with us for many years. I am sure that he will follow our tradition of wonderful Assistant Rabbis who make their mark here and later go on to success in so many ways.

I want to express my deep appreciation to Steve Satz and Susan Kohn who co-chaired our search committee. To all of the members of the search committee who gave their time, expertise, commitment, and love of Temple to the process, Yasher Koach to each of you. You

Musical Notes ... It's time to start singing with the Choir. Calling all adult singers! We invite you to a Choir Open House on Sunday, May 1 at lla.m. Makhelat Anshe Emet (formerly known as the Adult Volunteer No-Ringer Choir) is conducting a talent search! Experienced choral singers? We know you're out there. Haven't sung in a choir since high school (or before that)? We know you're out there too. If you have been an admirer from afar of this beloved fixture of Temple life and would like to experience the music and camaraderie for yourself for a short period of time, we are planning an "Open Sing" on Sunday May 1, at 11 a.m. We will schmooze over coffee and nosherei and then share a representative sample of our Shabbat repertoire. Keep coming to our rehearsals on Wednesdays 8-9:30 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. - 12: 15 p.m. and you can sing with us at the special Graduation service on Friday June 17.

Hear what other choir members say about what it means to them to be in Makhelat Anshe Emet: "] am generally more relaxed after] sing in a rehearsal. I get involved in the music and forget the day's intensities. There are also those special moments when everything comes together and it feels great, whether it be a rehearsal or a performance. " -Mark Fuerstein

"Singing in the choir is for me a very special commitment to the Temple. Years ago, the choir made a record entitled 'All Who Sing Pray Twice. ' The choir members and the congregation truly believe that." -Bea Adler

"The choir for me has always been a constant, the underlying connection I have to Anshe Emeth. The members are like my extended family, a constant support group through thick ar.d

thin." -Paula Masciulli

Please join the Community Yom HaShoah Memorial Program on Wednesday May 4, 2005, at 7:30 p.m. at Nicholas Auditorium (on the Douglass College/ Mason Gross campus).

Rigg, author of Hitler s Jewish Soldiers, which uncovered a new dimension of the Holocaust. Also featured will be the Anshe Segulah Men's Chorus of Central New Jersey, directed by Cantor Anna West Ott, a multi-generational and multi-denominational chorus of Jewish men including Anshe Emeth members Gene Corburn, Mark Fuerstein, Jason Goldberg, and Charlie Ott.
