When Can I Leave Home?

• In NSW there is no law setting an age at which a person can leave home

• If you have a safe place to go & you can support yourself financially normally you can leave home at 16 years of age.

1. Explain in 2 or 3 sentences the role of the Consumer Trader & Tenancy Tribunal

2. If the landlord gives you notice of an increase in your rent, what 2 actions could you take?

3. Explain what is meant by a tenants right to privacy

4. When is the landlord or agent allowed to enter the rental premises? Present your answer as a summary

5. Name at least one section (including contact details) of the Office of Fair Trading where you can get more information about tenancy and rental bond issues

6. Explain the role of the Tenancy Advice & advocacy Service & how it is funded.
