It’s the pep rally that local Football fans began celebrating in 1988. In the earlyyears – Purple Power Play was created to welcome students to downtownwhile creating excitement for the football season. Fast forward to 2014:come be a part of one of the largest events in NE Kansas. Over 20,000 peo-ple are estimated to attend Purple Power Play, celebrating with an inflatablecarnival, fireworks display, and over 80 vendors. Manhattan welcomes KSUStudents, KSU alumni and the entire community to get ready for the season.Be a part of the tradition that only gets better year after year.

Purple Power Play in the Park

Brew at the Zoo Be a part of the 5th Annual Brew at the Zoo this August. Friends of Sunset Zooand the Zoo’s wild residents are set to celebrate Friday, August 22 from 6 to 9p.m.

Enjoy samples of Tallgrass Brewing Co.’s cold brews; a DIY slider bar and walkingtacos by Manhattan’s Hy-Vee; shaved ice from the Friendship House; and a homebrew demo with firkin tapping by Tallgrass Brewers. The APPLE TRIATHLONDo you love to compete? Then this event is for you! Mark, Sunday, August 17th onyour calendar and head to Tuttle Creek State Park in Manhattan, Kansas for The Apple Triathlon. Competition begins at7:30 a.m. The Swimming competition will be held at the Beach south of the dam with a 500 meter loop. The Biking com-petition is a 12.4 mile route on Highway 13. The Run is a 3.1 mile race within the campground at Tuttle Creek.

McCain PerformancesThe 2014-2015 McCain Performance Series offers an outstanding lineup with 30 Broadway performances, worldrenowned artists and attractions taking the stage beginning on September 5, 2014 through May 10, 2015. Manhattan CVB partners with CVENTan event management platformAs the Manhattan Convention & Visitors Bureau seeks toexpand its marketing efforts to promote meetings and conventions to the area. The Manhattan CVB has recentlycollaborated with CVENT, a leading enterprise for eventmanagement. CVENT offers software solutions for event/meeting planners that assist in event registration, venueselection, event management, mobile technology, e-mailmarketing and web surveys. CVENT assists in targetingmarkets for destinations to optimize their marketing strategy to meeting planners.

With this new partnership, the Manhattan CVB seeks to bein front of hundreds of thousands of meetings and events,to showcase all The Little Apple® has to offer to plannersaround the region, state, US and the world.

The goals of this partnership include a higher rate of RFPs(Request for Proposals) to come through the Manhattanmarket, giving Manhattan an opportunity to bid on morepieces of business, which will increase hotel occupancy.
