The Audience Agency will examine how touring companies and venues can benefi t from The Audience Focus (Strand 1) Programme.

Through looking at applying audience intelligence, our guest speakers will review what you can do with it to attract and engage audiences.

Arts Council England’s The Space is now a year old and looks set to have a bright future. What’s been successful to date?

How can venues and touring companies exploit it to reach new audiences? Can digital engagement be turned into ticket sales?

Did you know that commercial theatres account for over a third of all touring performances in the UK and two thirds of the total touring GHG emissions of the sector?

And in addition to that, small scale subsidised theatres accounts for two fi fths of all touring performances in the UK and a sixth of the total touring GHG emissions of the sector?

Sholeh will be looking at the practical application of sustainability within theatres and production companies and will be joined by organisations with experience of implementing sustainability within the theatre and production of work, which have made being ‘green’ work for them.

Commercial & Subsidised Producers – building relationships and working together – Jonathan Church, Artistic Director, Chichester Festival Theatre– Joseph Smith, Executive Producer, Old Vic Productions and Chief Executive, Stage One

How can commercial and subsidised producers come together to develop new models and ways of putting on successful shows across the country? Can a symbiotic relationship work without compromising standards, values and ensuring fi nancial success?

We bring together two of the most successful regional and West End producers to discuss how the commercial and subsidised sectors can work in such a way to the benefi t of everyone involved. ACE Funding for Touring – lessons learned from last round– Cluny Macpherson, Touring Director, Arts Council England– Barbara Matthews, Director, Theatre, Arts Council England

The £45 million Strategic Touring Programme was launched in 2011, designed to encourage collaboration between organisations, so that more people across England experience and are inspired by the arts, particularly in places which rely on touring for much of their arts provision.

Cluny and Barbara will discuss the fi ndings and lessons learned over the past year. Family Arts Festival – interactive session – Alastair Tallon, Campaign Manager, Family Friendly Arts Campaign – David Brownlee, Campaign Director, Family Friendly Arts Campaign

Arts Council England has funded a consortium including the TMA to deliver a three-year campaign to grow family audiences. The focus of the campaign will be a nationally promoted Family Arts Festival in October/November 2013 and 2014.

What can venues and touring organisations do to make the most of the major national marketing and PR campaign planned for the Festival? What do you need from the campaign to maximise the impact of your contribution? Investment – the myths debunked and opportunities ahead– Neil Adleman, Partner, Harbottle & Lewis– Steven Anderson, Anderson & Pennington

Neil and Steven will discuss the current options for raising fi nance and investment in productions and theatrical companies, along with the advantages and challenges of the different ways currently available. The TMA and SOLT are working with both Neil and Steven on lobbying government on ways that investment could be undertaken more tax effectively for the future, and this will also be discussed.
