Thai Culture & Merits–Making Available all year, also around Green Season

An intrinsic part of the Thai way of life is ”making merit”. Throughout their lives, Thai people strongly believe in karmic giving, the act of regularly providing aid, assistance and donations to bring happiness and a peaceful life to others. By doing so they believe that they themselves earn good will, gaining the strength needed to overcome any obstacles or misfortunesne that life may present, and accumulating merit that will help them to be in a peaceful place when life draws to a close. On this very special day we will spend the day among the local Krabi people. We visit the morning market, temple, have breakfast with the Thai people in the Thai way. Visit Koh Klang which is only 5 minutes by boat from Krabi town centre, this is truly where you will see Krabi dated as it was before the arrival of the mass tourism in modern days. Typical village lifestyle and arts such as batik painting, rice farming and wooden handicrafts; you will experience this unspoiled beauty of the Krabi seascape and the slow village fi shing life where times appear to have stood still.

07:00 Arrive at Krabi Town Morning Market. Experience the unique colours, aromas and fl avours of a traditional Thai market, selling fresh fruits, vegetables and Thai food.

08:00 The offering of rice to Buddhist monks. The an- cient tradition of offering food to monks or ”Tak Bat” in Thai, involves getting up at the break of day to go to the morning market to buy food and fl owers and ser up a ”stall” from where to offer alms. Since on of the 227 rules the monk live by is that they cannot buy, ask for or cook food provided to them, in order to survive they must go out in the morning to receive food from Buddhist followers; from people who believe they are gaining merit by giving.

08:30 Breakfast at Thai local Restaurant “Dim Sum” where you will enjoy a delicious Southern Thai breakfast served with traditional Thai coffee.

10:00 Longtail boat to Koh Klang. Local School Visit - Another form of making merit you can experience here is to assist the local children by providing a simple meal or much needed teaching materials and school books. This program is guaranteed to put a smile both on your face and kids.

10:30 Walk around in Koh Klang to see and experience the real local life. You will see different kind of animals, lots of Thai Spices growing and lots of beautiful plants and fl owers, and for a fi nal merit making act, this time giving back to nature by planting local Fruit tree or Thai herbs.

12:00 Longtail boat back to Krabi mainland.

12:15 Return journey to your hotel and on the way we take for tasting Thai local pancake “Roti” or “Kanom Krok” another Thai traditional snack with peace of mind and a better Karma!

Wat Bang Rieng, about a one hour drive from Ao Nang, is one of the most beautiful and peaceful temples in Thailand. Located on a mountain top and surrounded by lush tropical forest, very few tourists fi nd their way to this temple, while many Thais come here to give alms and receive a blessing from the monks. During your visit here you are free to walk around at your leisure to experience the serene atmosphere, and even to take part in a simple ceremony performed by the monks. During this half day you will get a good view and introduction into the Buddhism, our special selected guide will explain you and teach you about this peaceful and interesting philosophy. After spending time at the temple, we travel back towards Ao Nang, stopping an orchid farm on the way and for a lake-side lunch at the charming Krabi Fishing Park, with fantastic limestone “Karst” scenery. After Lunch we go back to the hotel and you can enjoy and bring with you the lessons of Thai Buddhism.

Around an hour drive from Ao Nang is the tropical lowland rainforest of Kao Prak Bang National Park. Here you can stroll through the lush and fragrant jungle to an “Emerald Pool” where you can swim in crystal clear mineral enriched waters. After a relaxing time we will continue on for a dip in the thermal Hot Springs, a naturally occurring volcanic spring, visited by many Thais who come to soak in the perfect bath temperature water which is believed to benefi cial for health, particularly the skin. From the National Park, we stop on the way for a delicious Thai lunch at the “Gula Kasai” restaurant before heading to Wat Tham Sua (“Tiger Cave Temple”), one of the most famous monasteries of Southern Thailand. You can meet the monks and see how they live in the beautiful surroundings and natural serenity of the caves. If you’re feeling up to the task you are welcome to try out the 1237 steps to the top of this temple mountain and experience one of the most breathtaking views in Thailand if not the world – looking in all directions over lush forest, limestone karsts, and magnifi cent ocean. Or for the less energetic just enjoy watching the itinerant families of monkeys, who also share this temple home.

Phi Phi Highlights & Sunset Cruise by Yacht

Leaving Ao Nang at 10:30 am, the Yacht cruises directly to Maya Bay, the famous location of the movie “The Beach”. Since our timetable is designed to avoid the crowds, we will visit the bay after lunch time when it is at its most peaceful and beautiful. Here you will have plenty of time to snorkel amongst the colorful reef fi sh and visit the beach. On the way from Ao Nang to Maya Beach you will enjoy a delicious Thai buffet lunch served on board. After Maya Bay we continue on to view other highlights of Phi Phi such as Viking Cave, Hin-Klang, Phi Ley Bay etc., before our fi nal stop of the day at Bamboo Island. Here you will have time to enjoy the tranquil and beautiful beach while it is almost deserted. Leaving the beach around 5pm, you will arrive back aboard the Yacht, to fi nd a refreshing cocktail punch, red and white wine, ice cold beer, soft drinks and canape await you. Then we cruise slowly back to during the Sunset, while listening to relaxing music during the sunset cruise back to Ao Nang. On the return journey we pass Koh Poda, Koh Gai, & Railay, and you will enjoy Ao Nang by night, glittering and glowing in the dark, a fi nal memory of an unforgettable day to take home.
