What is a Wiki? Wiki means ‘quick-quick’ in Hawaiian Wiki is a website that allows people to collaborate and share

information easily using a web browser WYSIWYG editor

Examples of a well known wiki: Wikipedia


Why PBWorks? Based on Touchpoints needs, PBWorks is the best fit Easy to use and maintain Knowledge already exists within some teams

Ability to have a password protected wiki space for each paired group

Ability to have a unique wiki space for each paired team (approx 140 wikis)

Ability to add pictures, video or audio media

Ability to add students who don’t have an email address

Ability to assign a teacher as an owner of the paired wiki space

•Plan out pages & content for pages before sitting down to create on PBworks (have a blueprint first)

•Create or add links without a navigation path (common mistake - always provide an exit)

•Highlight the most important information on the page to start (inverse pyramid of data)

•Add important information at the bottom of a page

•Have fun &know this is a learning process – there is a lot to learn about Pbworks features

•Wait until the assignment to get comfortable with the wiki sites
