Our HeritageShortly after the end of the Second World War, a small group of innovative

Mansfield businessmen formed a Company that has remained a well

respected and recognised name for more than 60 years.

At a time when radio and television were

still in their infancy, TIS came into existence

embracing these new technologies. In those

formative years, television reception was only

available to the privileged few, however, through

the technical expertise and foresight of the

Company’s founders, TIS developed a range of

products that enabled distribution of radio and

television signals throughout the Country.

Those early years provided the secure

foundations for TIS to expand its operations

and following incorporation in 1951, the

Company purchased new premises in

Mansfield in 1952.

The Company were at the forefront of the

technology and continued to develop and

manufacture state of the art amplification

and distribution equipment. Their ‘Golden Box’

amplifier even achieved its own ‘fame’

following a TV advertising campaign.

In 1960, TIS were awarded a Contract by the

Ministry of Defence (Navy), to develop systems

for use throughout the Fleet, a relationship that

has continued until this day and TIS are now a

major supplier providing a wide range of

equipment and technical services.

Quickly realising the synergies between the

wide range of electronic equipment used in

security, life safety and communications

systems, the Company began providing

customers with fully managed integrated

solutions. The success of these projects

promoted further expansion of the business

and in 1986, the Company moved the business

to premises on Millway in Mansfield.

Recognising the importance of

demonstrating the quality standards

achieved, TIS were accredited to BS5750

in 1992 and through continually improving

processes and procedures, the Company

have continued and are proud to hold

BS/EN/ISO 9001:2008 certification.

In 1998 the Directors announced that a new

purpose built office and production facility was

to be completed on the prestigious Oakham

Business Park in Mansfield. Investing more

than £1.5m, the Company had achieved a

significant milestone on its journey to the

50th anniversary celebrations in 2001.

Today, TIS continues to grow providing

employment opportunities both in Mansfield

and throughout the UK and offers a wide

range of challenging career options.

Via a process of gradual and sustainable

expansion, we are opening branch offices at

strategic locations throughout the UK. This,

in addition to a long established network

of dedicated area engineers, provides our

customers with the confidence of rapid

Through a centralised database at our

head office in Mansfield we operate a

manned 24/7 customer helpline, where

we log and record all calls, and coordinate

logistics. This rapid response system ensures

that an engineer can provide immediate

attendance to a customer call.

Extensive stocks and fully equipped service

vehicles guarantee that replacement parts

will be available with the engineer in

attendance or dispatched immediately.

If repairs are not possible on site, engineering

support is available through our modern,

highly equipped repair centre. If equipment

has to be removed from site, standby or loan

equipment can be installed to maintain system

function. Scheduled maintenance programmes

are compiled from statistical attendance

reports in order that preventive maintenance

is planned effectively and arranged to meet

customer requirements.
