Plaintiffs allege against Defendants, and each of them, as follows:
1. Plaintiff Dee Torres is, and at all material times herein mentionedwas, an
individual residing in the County of San Luis Obispo, State of California and the Homeless
Services Coordinator for Community Action ParLnership for San Luis Obispo, Inc.
2. Plaintiff is informed and believes, and thereon alleges, that Defendant Michael
Brennler, DBA Brennler Investigative Services and Does r through z5 ("Brennler"), are and
at all materiai times herein mentioned, were individuals residing in the County of San Luis
Obispo, State of California.
3. Plaintiff is informed and believes, and thereon alleges, that Defendants Does
z6 through g5, are and. at all material times herein mentioned, were radio broadcasting
stations and individuals associated with those stations broadcasting in the County of San
Luis Obispo, State of California.

4. Plaintiffis informed and believes, and thereon alleges, that Defendants Does
36 through 45, are and at all material times herein mentioned, were an online news agencies
and individuals associated with those agencies in the County of San Luis Obispo, State of
California.
5. Plaintiff is informed and believes and based thereon alleges that prior to the
tortuous conduct alleged herein Defendant Brennler and Does L-loo, and each of them,
knowingly and willfully conspired tp defame Plaintiffwith the intent to injure Plaintiff.
6. The true names and capacities of Defendants sued herein as Does r through
roo, inclusive (hereinafter referred to as "Doe Defendants"), are unknorarn to Plaintiff, who
therefore sues these Doe Defendants by such fictitious names. Plaintiffwill amend this
complaint to allege their true names and capacities when ascertained. Plaintiff is informed
and believes and thereon alleges that each of the Doe Defendants is responsible in some
manner, means or degree for $ee events and happenings herein referred to and caused
damages proximately thereby to Plaintiffs as herein alleged.
Z. At all times menfioned herein, Defendants, and each of them, were the agents,
associates, partners, joint venturers, co-conspirators, representatives, or empioyees ofeach
of the remaining Defendants, and the acts of each Defendant were within the course and
scope of such agency, association, partnership, joint venture, representation or employment,
and/or conspiracy and with the knowledge and consent of each such associate, partner, joint
venturer, co-conspirator, principal or employer, and the conduct of each Defendant was
consented to and ratified by each rdmaining Defeadant.
CAUSE OF ACTION FOR DEFAMATION PER SE

B. The allegations of paragraphs r through 7 inclusive are hereby incorporated
herein by reference as though fully set forth.
g. In March 2013, Defendant Brennler and Does 1-1oo, stated in a telephone
conversation with Charles Barber that Plaintiffhas been stealing money from homeless

clients at the homeless shelter and that Plaintiffhas stolen money from a homeless man
named CliffAnderson. These statements are and were false.
10. Defendants' statements are slanderous on their face as they clearly expose
Plaintiff to hatred, contempt, ridicule and obloquy because they imply and could be
reasonably interpreted to mean that Plaintiff had done something unlawful, dishonest or
unethical in her profession.
11. As a direct and proximate result of the above-described publications, plaintiff
has been injured in her business, has suffered injury to her reputation, all to her special and
general damage in a sum believed to exceed fifty thousand dollars.
L2. The above-described publications were published by Defendants with malice,
oppression and fraud in that Defendants, knowing at all times that there was absolutely no
basis for these statements, that they were false and that they would injure Plaintiff in her
chosen profession, and thus Plaintiff seeks an award of punitive damages in a sum according
to proof at trial.
WHEREFORE, Plaintiffs pray for judgment against the Defendants, and each of
them, as follows:
t. For general damages in a sum according to proof at trial;
z. For special damages according to proof at trial;
3. For exemplary or punitive damages;
4. For the costs of suit incurred by the Plaintiff; and
5. For such other and further relief as the court may d.eem just and proper.
