TRANSCRIPT

Police officers are part

of our daily lives.

They have very

important duties like

preventing crimes

and making sure that

everyone follows the

rules.

They are here to help

you, your family, your

friends, your

neighbours and every

person that lives,

works or visits

Toronto.

If you have a problem, police

officers are happy to help

you.

If you have a problem you

can ask a police officer for

help. Just like if you are at

home and have a problem,

you ask your mom or dad.

Always remember that police

officers are here to help, and to

keep everyone safe.

You can always ask a police

officer for help, no matter what.

Police officers use all sorts of

ways to get around the city.

There are police officers that

drive patrol cars.

There are police officers that ride

on horseback with specially

trained horses.

Some ride motorcycles.

Some ride bikes.

There are police officers that

walk around neighbourhoods

on foot.

Police officers help to direct traffic. When traffic lights are not

working, the officer helps people cross the road safely.

They also make sure that people in cars are driving safely.

Some police officers

work in special units.

At the Marine Unit, police

officers operate police

boats, and work on rescue

missions in the water.

At the Police Dog Services Unit, police officers who are called handlers,

work with specially trained dogs. Police dogs are used to help find things,

like people who are lost. All the police dogs live at home with their

handler.

Anyone can become a police officer – a man, or a woman.

You have to work hard, do your best in school and make good choices in

order to become a police officer.

Remember that police

officers are here to keep

us safe, and to teach us

how important it is to be

safe.
