The Canadian Manufacturing Technology Show
(CMTS) is Canada’s national manufacturing event
held once every two years in Toronto. Modeled
on a marketplace approach, participants
experience a diverse mix of exhibits, networking
and education that is unrivaled by any other
manufacturing event in Canada.
For more than 40 years, CMTS has continued
to bring buyers and global leaders
together from Canada’s leading sectors
and industries – automotive, aerospace,
machine tools, tooling, metalworking,
and advanced manufacturing solutions
including robotics and automation,
design engineering and additive
manufacturing – to source the latest
knowledge and innovations that
allow them to compete in today’s
global economy.
Why Canada?• Metal machining and precision component operations based in Canada
have the lowest business costs of any country in the G7.¹
• Companies operating in Canada have preferential market access to more
than 40 countries with over 1.2 billion consumers and a combined GDP of
over US$41.3 trillion, representing over one-half of the world’s output of
goods and services.²
• With over 10,000 establishments and a labour force of more than 160,000
workers, Canada’s machinery and equipment industry accounts for
nearly 30% of Canada’s GDP and exports account for more than 79% of all
sales.³
• The metal machinery manufacturing industry will see subdued revenues
from 2018-2022 with growth expected to increase at an annualized rate of
0.4% to total $5.2 billion.4
• The automotive industry is the second largest manufacturing sector
contributing $18 billion to Canada’s GDP. It is the second largest exporter
with over 95% goods destined for the United States. The sector employs
more than 500,000 Canadians through direct and indirect jobs.5
• In a country comparison, Canada ranks in the top three in terms of
civil aircraft, engines, and flight simulators. The aerospace industry
contributed close to $25 billion in GDP and almost 190,000 jobs to the
Canadian economy in 2017. Aerospace was the number one R&D player
among all Canadian manufacturing industries.6
