TOPIC RESEARCH Throughout my topic research a few issues with stereotyping began to arise. Firstly, whilst doing my research it was much easier to find negative stereotypes and news stories than it was to find anything positive about young people in the media. Secondly, whenever there was anything good about young people in the news it was always argued against, for example, teenagers are receiving higher GCSE and A-level grades so it must be because the exams are getting easier not because students are revising and studying a lot to gain the results that they deserve. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/ educationnews/8708052/A-level-results-are-exams- getting-easier.html Thirdly, it became apparent that because these stereotypes are being forced daily upon young people they begin to believe them and feel as though they have to dress and act a certain way in order to fit in with society and to make friends. This isn’t helped by websites which give young people tips and advice on “how to be a rocker” or “how to be popular” as they lead young people to attempt to be someone they’re not and to hide their true personalities.

TOPIC RESEARCH

Throughout my topic research a few issues with stereotyping began to arise.

Firstly, whilst doing my research it was much easier to find negative stereotypes and news stories than it was to find anything positive about young people in the media.

Secondly, whenever there was anything good about young people in the news it was always argued against, for example, teenagers are receiving higher GCSE and A-level grades so it must be because the exams are getting easier not because students are revising and studying a lot to gain the results that they deserve. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/educationnews/8708052/A-level-results-are-exams-getting-easier.html

Thirdly, it became apparent that because these stereotypes are being forced daily upon young people they begin to believe them and feel as though they have to dress and act a certain way in order to fit in with society and to make friends. This isn’t helped by websites which give young people tips and advice on “how to be a rocker” or “how to be popular” as they lead young people to attempt to be someone they’re not and to hide their true personalities.
