MAJOR OBJECTIVE ( MAJOR OBJECTIVE ( AS EXPECTED OUTCOME OF MY AS EXPECTED OUTCOME OF MY
RESEARCHRESEARCH))
• To train the unskilled workers as skilled in some trade, particularly as mason or builder or as contractor
• To find out a cheap and best training method so that all or most of the unskilled workers, both men and women can be trained
• To enhance the unskilled workers income and productivity
• To design and develop an induction training program to both unskilled youth, working male and female coolies, also to school children as part of their STEM education
MAJOR FINDINGS ( BASED ON FORMATIVE RESEARCHMAJOR FINDINGS ( BASED ON FORMATIVE RESEARCH))
• To train the unskilled workers as skilled in some trade, particularly as mason or
builder or as contractor: the existing in-formal training appears to be the best in terms of cost, access to poor, industry based; the formal ITI mason training is on the decline
• To find out a cheap and best training method so that all or most of the unskilled
workers, both men and women can be trained: there are difficulties even to deliver the first lesson on safety and tools meant for mason under MES program due many barriers
• To enhance the unskilled workers income and productivity: training them as quality inspectors, is it possible?
• To design and develop an induction training program to both unskilled youth, working male and female coolies, also to school children as part of their STEM
education: induction program to school children very attractive and to women coolie workers yet to be explored
OBJECTIVE ( OBJECTIVE ( REVISITEDREVISITED))
• To Evaluate Training programs using TIER and Kirkpatrick models
• To map the in-formal training program
• To design and develop an induction training program to both unskilled youth, working male and female coolies, also to school children as part of their STEM education
• To Evaluate the effectiveness of the induction training program using TIER and Kirkpatric models
METHODOLOGYMETHODOLOGY
• To Evaluate Training programs using TIER and Kirkpatrick models:
descriptive and meta analysis• To map the in-formal training program: small sample-cluster
sampling, interview and questionnaire, meta analysis
• To design and develop an induction training program to both unskilled youth, working male and female coolies, also to school children as part of their
STEM education: based on MES syllabus for Assistant Mason, orientation and industry awareness program developed as STEM education industry expert interaction program with tool kit
• To Evaluate the effectiveness of the induction training program using TIER and Kirkpatric models: descriptive and meta analysis
LIMITATIONSLIMITATIONS
• Study based on small samples• Confined to Tamilnadu• Confined to Mason, Female and Male Coolie
workers• Confined to school children from rural area and
children of construction workers• Formative, descriptive and open ended research
CONCLUSIONCONCLUSION
• There is good scope to add value to the major in-formal training of workers in India, by patronizing or formalizing it by institutions and government
• Training of trainers like training experienced masons or tradesmen to in-turn impart qualitative training to youth and unskilled workers at sites; training of supervisors to impart skill training g of unskilled at site can add value
• Industry orientation at school level itself would give and develop work attitude and motivation on STEM subjects
