Top Fishing Spots in Maine
Anthony Perrone MD
IntroductionFor more than three years, Anthony Perrone, MD, has been
providing plastic surgery services to patients in Maine. With an MD from Dartmouth Medical School, he serves as the chief plastic surgeon at Maine General Medical Center. In his free time, Dr. Anthony Perrone enjoys fishing. With numerous lakes, rivers, and other bodies of water, Maine hosts several great fishing destinations, including those that follow.
- Mousam Lake: Perfect for canoe fishers, Mousam Lake covers roughly 900 acres of land. Although the lake stays heavily stocked with lake, brook, and brown trout, there is not a lot of opportunity to fish from the shore. However, the variety of fish available and the nearby campgrounds make the narrow lake a popular destination.
Fishing- Megunticook Lake: Located in Camden Hills State Park,
Megunticook Lake features several islands and numerous species of fish. The 1,220-acre lake is especially popular for catching white perch and both smallmouth and largemouth bass, and it is surrounded by various hiking trails that stay well populated during the day.
- Penobscot River: One of the state’s top landlocked salmon fisheries, Penobscot River offers great fishing opportunities throughout the year. Anglers can visit the river’s West Branch for world-class salmon fishing or try the East Branch for smallmouth bass and brook trout. Thanks to a paved road that runs alongside portions of the river, anglers can easily get to the water.
