Washington State Office Highlights 2011-2012 The Washington state office supports a network of 12 Communities In Schools affiliates in Auburn, Federal Way, Kent, Lakewood, Orting, Peninsula, Puyallup, Renton, Seattle, Spokane County, Tacoma, and Whatcom County. We strengthen the network by providing affiliates with the knowledge, tools, and best practices to provide effective programs for students at risk of dropping out. Ultimately, we all work together to help struggling students in Washington overcome obstacles and make it to graduation day with a vision for the future. Top 10 List 1. Communities In Schools of Washington state office receives national accreditation. 2. AmeriCorps partnership with the Washington Commission for National and Community Service brings 20 site coordinators into the network. 3. Grants from U.S. Bancorp Foundation, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, CIS National Impact Fund, and Social Venture Partners further the work of the state office. 4. Mardi Gras Dinner & Auction raises $33,000 during a fun and festive event. 5. Professional development, planning, and networking opportunities abound with the All Boards Meeting, site coordinator training, and network executive director meetings hosted by the state office. 6. Olympia Day connects 40 Communities In Schools supporters with 50 legislators to advocate for funding programs that keep kids in school. 7. Communities In Schools national president Dan Cardinali pays a visit to Washington state to inspire business and community leaders. 8. National partnership with Procter & Gamble raises money and awareness about the dropout crisis. 9. Local partnership with ClearChannel Outdoor provides significant pro bono billboard visibility for the Unsung Hero campaign. 10. A national return on investment study gives further evidence of our effectiveness showing that every $1 invested in Communities In Schools creates $11.60 of economic benefit to the community. Washington state office Highlights 2011-2012The Washington state office supports a network of 12 Communities In Schools affiliates in Auburn, Federal Way, Kent, Lakewood, Orting, Peninsula, Puyallup, Renton, Seattle, Spokane County, Tacoma, and Whatcom County.

We strengthen the network by providing affiliates with the knowledge, tools, and best practices to provide effective programs for students at risk of dropping out. Top 10 List
