Lucchini RS is one of the main European manufacturers which integrates in two sites, Lucchini RS and Lucchini Mamé Forge, all facilities from research and development of materials, to steel production and finished products.

Lucchini Mamé Forge operates worldwide in the Steel Forgings Business and it has been created from the acquisition in 2015 of Mamé Group Spa by Lucchini RS Spa.

The open die-forging production is focused on the Tool Steels business, for plastic moulds, hot-work and die casting application.

As a fully integrated producer, LRS is able to control all stages, from the design of material and heat treatments to the manufactory, sales and after sales service of these products.

Thanks to the strong partnership with Distributors and Service Centers, Lucchini RS reaches the most important mould and tool steels markets all over the world.

R&D - Testing & Inspection

The quality of Lucchini RS products is based on its “state-of-the-art” technology of its laboratories for metallurgy and chemistry. They perform a range of tests, including mechanical property tests, chemical and environmental analyses, metallographic, macrographic and micrographic tests using optical and electronic microscopes.

The superior quality of the service offered by Lucchini RS laboratories is recognised and guaranteed by ACCREDIA, which certifies conformance with the requirements of UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025.

Moreover, all materials are tested and certified in accordance with international standards and Customer’s specifications, using any combination of the following methods: UT-RT-HT-PT-MT-VT-DT.

Furthermore, Lucchini RS Group has an internal European Metallurgical Inspection Centre (EMIC) dedicated to in-service non-destructive tests.

EMIC proposes different services such as:

• Customer support for testing of new and in-service products, applying customised standards or instructions;

• Technical procedures for NDT tests on new and existing products;

• In-service overhaul of components used for the production of thermal, hydroelectric and wind power plants and equipments such as moulds for plastic and die casting.

ESR version.Latest evolution of low silicon steel grade for high pressure light alloys die casting. Compared to the steel grade 1.2343 ESR it combines a better warm rigidity and warm strength with an excellent toughness. It is recommended for long run dies for AI-Mg parts requiring smooth surface (to be coated or paint). Not recommendable for dies producing small lots neither for non-thermoregulated dies.
