CAPS LOCK

LAST GAME - CHICAGO: The Steel came from behind to beat the Sioux City Musketeers 3-2 in overtime on Sunday afternoon at Tyson Events Center. Chicago went 2-for-4 (50%) on the power play and handled all four infractions they took, going 4-for-4 (100%) on the penalty kill. The Steel out-shot the Musketeers by a 32-27 margin. With the victory, Chicago extended its season-high win streak to five games. Sam Colangelo tallied the game-winner while Matty De St. Phalle and Tyler Carpenter each netted a goal. Chicago netminder Ian Shane stopped 25 shots in the win.

LAST GAME - MADISON: The Capitols fell to the Fargo Force 3-2 in overtime last Friday at Scheels Arena. Kristoff Papp tallied a pair of goals just over four minutes apart in the first period but Fargo came back with two markers in the final stanza before winning the contest in the extra frame. Madison goaltender Garrett Mackay turned away a season-best 38 shots in the overtime loss.

AGAINST THE CAPITOLS: Chicago takes the ice on Friday for the first of two games in two nights versus the Capitols with a 20-6-2-1 regular-season mark against Madison all-time. In road contests, the Steel have posted a 10-3-1-0 record against the Capitols. Friday and Saturday’s matchups will be the teams’ third and fourth meetings of the season with the Steel holding a 2-0-0-0 edge in the previous two encounters.

DAWSON’S CREEK: Coming into the weekend home-and-home set, Chicago rookie forward Dawson Pasternak has recorded four points (1G, 3A) over his last three contests. The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native ranks second on the Chicago rookie scoring list with two goals and seven helpers in 15 outings this season.

ROAD WARRIORS: The Steel have an 8-1-0-0 record (14 points) as the visiting team this season. The Chicago power play has succeeded at a rate of 36.6 percent (14-for-39) away from home, the top mark in the league, while the Steel penalty kill has succesfully cancelled 24 infractions in 33 shorthanded chances (90.9%) which shares the third-best road PK unit percentage in the USHL.

ALL CAPS: Madison’s leading scorer, Carson Bantle, has 16 points (7G, 9A) in as many games this season. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound forward is just four points shy of matching his 2018-19 season total of 20 points (10G, 10A) accumulated through 62 contests. Bantle was rated as a ‘C’-level prospect on NHL Central Scouting’s most recent watch list on Nov. 11. Between the pipes for the Capitols, Simon Latkoczy has registered 342 total saves, the most of any USHL netminder this season. The native of Trencin, Slovakia, has totaled a 2-9-0-0 record with a 4.26 goals-against average and a save percentage of .879.
